I was her
She was me
We were one
We were free
Anf if there's somebody calling me on
She's the one
If there's somebody calling me on
She's the one

We were young
We were wrong
We were fun
All along
And if there's somebody calling me on
She's the one

When you get to where you want to go
And you know the things you want to know
You're smiling
When you said what you want to say
And you know the way you want to play it
You'll be so high you'll be flying

Tho' the sea
Will be strong
I know we'll
Carry on
Cos if there's somebody calling me on
She's the one
If there's somebody calling me on
She's the one

When you get to where you want to go
And you know the things you want to know
You're smiling
When you said what you want to say
And you know the way you want to play it
You'll be so high you'll be flying

I was her
She was me
We were one
We were free
And if there's somebody calling me on
She's the one
If there's somebody calling me on
She's the one

Karl could definitely write a song, sadly missed.
La balada no es mala pero el mood de la música v.s. el nombre de la banda me hace pensar:
que tristes son sus vidas
God bless & godspeed, KW.  Thank you very much, heartfelt appreciation to your spirit for having given it your all
simply superb 10
If I could write a song like this I'd be pretty pleased with myself!

To be fair, there's not a lot of substance to the song either though. Sounds like any committee-written post-Cowell pap.
loved robbie's williams cover as much as this original. really gets me

Based in London, and in my naivety, I must admit I also didn't even know that the Robbie Williams version was a cover/clone of this version - so thanks again for RP and Bill for widening my horizons, even after 15 years of listening, still learning and discovering new sounds and new tastes. I don't dislike it, but it's only ok, nothing special, but I just can't hear anything other than the 'Williams' version after some 20+ (?!) years after hearing it played on loop on commercial radio to death here in the UK in my teens, I had to double-take that RP and Bill were playing for a moment there.

ehehe, seems that there is a debate as to which version is best. I didn't know this one existed. I only knew Robbie's version until today, maybe that influence my judgement but this one here doesn't seem to have much energy and makes the song very soppy . Plus, I can't help and visualise the video clip Robbie Williams has done to this song, it's such a cool and funny one. I'll give him the lead even if it is not the best song he has sung. Robbie 6, World Party, 3.

Absolutely. This version is a dreary slog with a slight increase in volume to substitute for energy.
From Ella Fitzgerald to this. Ugh.
Angst...

Vienna Teng? I would ask why, but it is difficult to communicate with retarded people. Please stop spreading your moronic opinions. If you try to disrespect someone, at least get their name right.

Please, have a Mummy snack. It's extra crispy...

Too bad. I usually like World Party, but this one is just ho-hum. I'm a 3
High number of "3" ratings for this one.  Hmmmm.
A beautiful song, thanks Karl

The only version I have heard is not by Robbie Williams or World Party and it was much better than this; does anybody know who else did this song?{#Question}

Indeed it did.  It was used to very good effect in The Matchmaker (which is, incidentally one of the funniest movies of all time).  Love this song and love that film {#Hearteyes}

Clip of film on YouTube

For me Robbie Wiliams was first, too. Didn't know it was a cover version either. In my opinion Robbie Williams' voice added something more wild to it though, I like his version better - considering that this still remains a boring cheesy song after all.

Now THAT is funny... {#Bounce}Thanks for the laugh as I can just picture Owen Wilson deep in thought as this tune plays over a montage of good times / bad times in their "on screen" relationship (e.g., Jennifer Anniston). {#Rolleyes}  I just saw Marley & Me over the weekend...

I walked down the aisle to this song. Very sad to hear Robbie Williams did a cover of it....
I think this one escaped from a romantic comedy soundtrack.
this is so much better by world party - first time i hear it, its a different song!
This song is pretty decent, but the bad news is I heard Robbie Williams' version first, therefore ruining it forever for me. That guy is such an imbecile.
I adore Karl Wallinger. There. I've said it.

Fantastic.

Totally agree - RW - shouldn't that stand for Right Wanker!!! Do like the song - first time I've heard this version.
First time I had heard them was live in concert in San Diego. I was blown away and have been a fan ever since. Yes, Goodbye Jumbo is one of my favorite albums.
Back to the music now... Karl Wallinger and World Party were so fabulous in their day...until serious health issues derailed the music for a while. This is a lovely song, but - as others have noted - you should check out the album Goodbye Jumbo in particular, if you don't know the band. It's easily one of the best albums of the '90s. Private Revolution that preceded it and Bang! and Egyptology that followed were all excellent as well. For you 'Greatest Hits' types, try Best of Show from last year, which is heavily tilted toward the first two albums.

Private Revolution. Goodbye Jumbo from '91 was great, and the song "Way Down" is very stone-esque. In a good way of course.

IMO those people take themselves too seriously and really need to get over it. It's their choice to be offended or not, actually. When someone says "Jesus!" or "Christ!", it has nothing to do with anyone else. It's just a common colloquialism. I can't be suppressing and holding myself back every time someone gets offended over this word or that word. Sure, there are some words that are truly nasty and have a really rotten history and I wouldn't say to anyone. But what if a whole group of people came along who decided to become offended every time someone said "man," (as in "Oh man, this really sucks!")? Would you stop using the word man like that? I wouldn't. Especially not in the name of peace. True peace comes from within, not from walking on eggshells every time we speak so as not to offend someone.
man, love this guy's voice. great track. great band.

Karl Wallinger does it the best. Shameless pop is just so darn disarming. I love this song for some of the same reasons that I love John Lennon's Imagine. It's got heart and soul.

Damn... phone rang half way through that.
This song was whiney and boring enough when Robbie Williams sang it. How these guys have managed to make it sound more mundane is beyond me.
