Chimes sing Sunday morn
Today's the day she's sworn
To steal what she never could own
And race from this hole she calls home
Now you're at the wheel
Tell me how, how does it feel?
So good to have equalised
To lift up the lids of your eyes
As the miles they disappear
See land begin to clear
Free from the filth and the scum
This American satellite's won
She'll carry on through it all
She's a waterfall
She'll carry on through it all
She's a waterfall
See the steeple pine
The hills as old as time
Soon to be put to the test
To be whipped by the winds of the west
Stands on shifting sands
The scales held in her hands
The wind it just whips her and wails
And fills up her brigantine sails
She'll carry on through it all
She's a waterfall
She'll carry on through it all
She's a waterfall
Today's the day she's sworn
To steal what she never could own
And race from this hole she calls home
Now you're at the wheel
Tell me how, how does it feel?
So good to have equalised
To lift up the lids of your eyes
As the miles they disappear
See land begin to clear
Free from the filth and the scum

Never fails! Now pretty please play the reversed version "Don't Stop", thankyouverymuch!
Muy bueno. Anyone know of a better recording/mix? This one sounds flat, one-dimensional to me. Still an 8 minimum.
Love this song but it wants for a better recording/mix. I guess that mostly comes down to its age.
I'm still a Rose Bud.
I used to jam out to The Stone Roses and Seahorses as I drove all over the wild country roads of the magical realm of Noto Hanto, Ishikawa-ken, from '93-2000, and though it hurts and grieves me that it was largely destroyed in the terrible quake of Jan '24, those memories of seeing that surreal coastal and mountain scenery while listening to such incredible, inspiring music shall live forever in my mind... Thanks, RP!
Wow again. I took a musical detour streaming some Liam Gallagher when RP played the new Liam Gallagher / John Squire track "Just Another Rainbow" and I return to RP to hear this! Sweet!
Thanks as usual RP!
P.S. The backwards track "Don't Stop" is just as fun.

Love this song. Finally got into Rasputin Records and found their only copy staring at me. Waterfall is #4 but #5 [aptly named] flows beautifully and continues the harmony and progressions. I'm happy.
Upping this to a 10. They never really reached these heights again, but really, how could they (or anyone for that matter)?
FEK oasis !!! EH Mate
Always loved this album. Now my 22 year old loves this album after he "discovered" it.

I saw an interview with the singer from the Seahorses, John Squire's band after the Stone Roses. [for the uninitiated, Squire is the guitarist here]. He said Squire would have his on-stage amp so loud it was impossible for the singer to hear himself through the monitors. It's impossible to sing if you can't hear yourself for the ego of the guitarist. Great musician but a bit of dick (actually that goes for Brown too!). Autotune wasn't a thing in 1988 when this was recorded.
I liked a lot of what they've done in the studio but the dude can't hit a single note live. Thanks fuck for autotune eh?

This track was recorded in '85 and produced by Martin Hannett.
Bass is provided by Mani and his rikenbacker 4005.
Lead is Jon Squire and his Gretsch Country Gentleman (With humbucker & neck pickups) running through these pedals: Ibanez TS-9 Tube screamer, Ibanez CS-9 stereo-chorus, Fuzz-Face(solo only). Occasionally you'll see him with a strat too depending if it's a live clip!
So in summary the essential elements are: Guitar w/ humbuckers (neck pickup and played by bridge) --> Chorus --> Tubescreamer --> Amp (Fender and/or Mesa Boogie) w/ Reverb in effects loop. Fuzz Face for solos.
Goodluck :)

What is the lead instrument? It sounds like a cross between a guitar and steel drums.
