Her heart gets broken, it's something she can't hide
She's cut like a diamond from a mine as deep as time
The words that she's spoken have energised my mind
A sheer elevation so like eagles high, we'll glide

Hot love it smoulders, it's something she can't hide
A manifestation of a force as old as time
Now morning has broken and solarized my eyes
Her sheer dispensation says like eagles high, we'll glide

Solarized in the sunrise, soul rise in the sunrise
Rise with the sunrise, solarized in the sunrise
Soul rise in the sunrise, rise with the sunrise
The light that she lives for in the dark, she'll always find

Solarized has energized my mind, time and time again. Masterpiece.

Let's call these "knock, knock songs" :)
FUCK YES!

One of Ian's coolest grooves, to be sure! Every time I see that cover pic, it takes me back to the Taikodani Inari Jinja, near Tsuwano, Shimane-ken, one of the largest and most important of its kind, located along a misty ridge in one of the most surreal places in all of Japan... But part of its charm is that it's so remote, so it's more likely that he's at the main one in Fushimi, Kyoto-fu. I also think it's clever that the title reflects how in Shinto worship, the Sun is at the top of the pantheon, and a mirror is at the center of the altar of each of the thousands of shrines scattered throughout the country.

thankyou coloradojohn to the rescue again, cheers

Delicious lyrics & “vibe”. It either gets you. Or it doesn’t. It’s that simple.

I really like the mysterious atmosphere this song  conveys.

Kind of dream-state.  Like his voice a lot.

It's like he liked the results of the vocals he did for Unkle so much that he just had to make more like that.
I'd say, it's great stuff!

Very, very nice.  It just sort of rolls over the listener, but in a very good way.  It's easy to get lost in this sound.  For me, anyway.
Voted a Godlike Genius for a very good reason!

Thought this was Unkle. Guess they rubbed off on him. I wonder if anyone from that outfit was involved in this production?

Don't let him kick your donkey over, next thing you know he'll be tipping your cows & shagging your sheep.
I'm with you on the quality of the album though.

Very cool mood in this tune.
It's like Ian Brown jamming with an uninspired Radiohead.  Interesting if slightly over produced tune.

I loved the first Stone Roses album, The Second Coming was much less exciting.  I've only heard a small amount of his solo stuff, but what I have heard I've liked.
Yea, I like his solo stuff! 8
trippy
Good stuff - Even better than some of his Stone Roses stuff {#Music}

This number's slowly growing on me, musically at least - the lyrics are plain spaced-out stoner bollox. 6 from the Nottingham jury.

That ain't right! What's he got against you? This has gone on long enough, don't let him beat you. Call the cops, carry a weapon or call me. I'm not much of a fighter but maybe the 2 of us can turn the tables on him.

all the SR fans will be mad for it, but the geezer's only made a few good tunes since the first SR album, blinkered?

Nice song but OMG someone needs to start adding some proper Ian Brown tunes to RP...

No "F.E.A.R."?
No "Stardust"?
No "Sister Rose"?

Someone sort this travesty out please.

That happens as they are uploaded.  If you have them, you can help sort the travesty.  Upload.

Finally got a hold of this album.  It's good across the board to my ears.

The music is interesting and (mostly) unique.
Reminiscent of the Shamen and dog-on-a-rope New Age crusties. Ok for a while, but I suspect the lyrics could start to get on one's tits after a bit. 5 from the Nottingham jury.
Please... make... it... stop.

This and Keep What Ya Got are the best. The rest is marred by overmixed fake horns....sad. Could have been a great album!

his entire back catalogue is essential listening - in fact this isnt even one of his better tracks - there was a greatest hits CD last year which is worth getting for anyone new to the legend that is Ian Brown
Never heard this before. Very cool!
I like this song. I also like toasted raisin-bread with a little butter on top. Make of that what you will.
Dude, time to lay off the repeat button. You play any song more than once a day for a year, and its going to seem humdrum, because by that point it IS. That's the whole point of RP and eclectic radio. If the rest of Ian Brown's styles were this good, I'm sure Bill would sample more. But I'll take this, every few weeks, just fine in the mix. Frater_Kork wrote:
Quite. I digged this a year ago, a copule of hundred playings later it feels a bit humdrum, must be more Ian Brown albums with different styles out there.
I keep coming back to re-rate this song higher.

This is a good song. But there are far better ones on the album. This album is a great introduction to the lead singer from the Stone Roses (and points to his success as an individual musician). A solid 10 as an album, 8 for the song. Rock on Ian!
I didn't even know Ian had done anything since the Roses. Chalk up another CD sale as a result of RP. This is getting expensive.
This song (title mostly) makes me think of the movie Solaris.

pretty trippy groove, wonder what his other stuff sounds like. Reminds me of that crazy music towards the end of 28 Days Later
Reminds me of Nine Inch Nails
Outstanding! Must buy this Album…
This song reminds me of that little midget in Twin Peaks. Everything is "backwards forwards"!

On another website it states he was born in Warrington, England, this date in 1963. So not only are you all correct about north of England (between Manchester and Liverpool), but today is his birthday.

It's almost exaggerated... I hope he's not faking it. I like the voice. I looove an accent!
The Roses were great.
I am very much in favor of solar energy, but I am very much against this song.
I don't dig it. Sorry RP
v/cool
Roland Orzabal would be weirded out by this. It is like covering one of his songs succesfully.

If he's the dude from Stone Roses, then Manchester it is, since I remember back in 90 when Stone Roses came out, they were part of a batch of 'Manchester' bands that came out.

Yes, I know that! :D I've listened to the whole album a few times now and Keep What Ya Got is really the only one that still sounds like a Stone Roses song to me.
I can't put my finger on it but I love this song. I think it's the hint of a middle eastern/ancient feel.

Nice mix of musical imagery, sounds, and lyrics......rather LSD-ish and 60's meets now. I can see someone blowing smoke rings in a dark club to this music......Thumbs up
