I really think I better get a hold of myself
Don't wanna let the night get ahead of myself
Whisperin' her love through a smoke ring smile
She doesn't know what happens when she's around

I think I'm in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
I think I'm in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so

Doodododododooodoo

Probably lay my head on a wooden floor
Tell her I was tired from working the store
Counting all the cash from an old shoebox
Saving up to buy her something she wants

I think I'm in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
I think I'm in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so

What if it's wrong?
What if it's wrong to pray in vain?
What does it mean
To fake your death?
To wake up tainted?

Take a little picture in a photobooth
Keep it in a locket and I think of you
Both of our pictures, face to face
Take off your necklace and throw it away

I think I'm in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
I think I'm in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so

Really think I better get a hold of myself
Don't wanna let the night get ahead of myself
Whisperin' her love through a smoke ring smile
She doesn't know what happens when she's around

I think I'm in love
Think I'm in love
Think I'm in love
Think I'm in love

Think I'm in love
Think I'm in love
Think I'm in love
Think I'm in love

This dude has been turning out consistently creative and interesting music for a long time...most excellent.
Saw Beck in concert a few years back with Spoon and Cage the Elephant. Beck's studio work sounds better than Beck live. Cage the Elephant was amazing.

A great concert nonetheless....
Beck is aging like fine wine - they get better and better with age
It's amazing to me that this song can be written be the same person who wrote Loser and all the related songs.  Viva the capacity to evolve and continue to do so.

And now he has nothing to complain about in the religion arena since Beck has left the scientology cult.  Long Live RP and letting people make mistakes and learn from them!!

It reeks of exactly where his sound was at in 2006.  Many Beck fans love this album and that sound.  Myself included.

Sorry you can't see that and instead go straight to "sell out" (an over used and pointless cliche signifying nothing).

Yeah, having low standards is not the reverse of being snobby.  There's a reason that Bud/Miller/Coors (and Dos Equis) must be ice cold.

I wondered how long it would be before someone noticed that coincidence.  By his countless posts berating Beck in the comment threads for every single Beck song in the RP playlist, it's obvious that Dos Equis does not think much of Beck(s).

Catchy as hell! Excellent rhythmic nuances I can never resist tapping along to! I LOVE the breaks, shifts, and wryness in Beck's tunes!

This whole disc gets regular play in my headphones.

You have a lot more awesomeness to discover in the world of Beck!

My first Beck experience was when I was a kid and I knew all the words to every Weird Al song, and in part of a song he spoofed "Loser,"
so in turn I learned Beck's first big hit. A few years later when I started listening to real music that helped lead me into real Beck songs. However, like most people, Odelay was the first Beck album I heard/liked.

He's a frightfully clever little fellow and no mistake.
I'd say Beck and Neil Young are the two RP mainstays who don't have a single song I could say for certain that I like.

I loved his performance of this on SNL. The puppet avatars are a hoot--and a wry commentary on what it is to perform for a living, something Cobain couldn't get his arms around, but Beck seems to have found a way to deal with.

This is just a fun funky catchy tune. Beck is always surprising me It has the wierd vibe of modern technology vs love (Now that I think of it most Beck comes across like that for me)
Great simplicity displayed on this one...musically, lyrically, vocally. Sounds like he wrote it (and recorded it) in about half an hour. And yet the result was something wonderful.

I can't imagine listening to a whole album of his style but I love little tastes here and there. Always a pleasure in a mix.

The only one who could say that with a straight face is one who has only heard, say, his 5 or so biggest hits. Repeat, listen to Sea Change.

If Scientology was actually a faith-based organization I wouldn't mind as much, either. A clever money-grubbing scheme getting tax breaks is more like it. But, then again, don't a lot of the powerful religions make money exploiting spiritual teachings? I am learning to separate the artist from the art, but it's not easy. Beck's music speaks to me.

I can't help liking anything Beck does... That said, the dirgebox that was "sea change" is by far my favourite of all his albums. Talk about tear out my still beating heart!

That's the very opposite of what I would say. I'm not sure I know of any other artist who's style is so divergent from one album to another. I don't think you'll convince too many people that Mellow Gold, Midnite Vultures, and One Foot in the Grave sound much alike. Maybe his lyric style ties them together...

Agreed. Plus, Beck is not obnoxious about being a Scientolgist, as opposed to Tom Cruise. Beck admitted his connection to Scientology only after being questioned about it, and he has not made numerous pompous statements in the press about the superiority of his belief system.

Notwithstanding the handful of great songs on Sea Change, Mutuations was Beck's last great album. Guero had a smaller handful of decent songs and, while Midnite Vultures was damn cool, it wasn't truly "great". I'm afraid from what I've heard of The Information, it seems to continue the musical fluff thing he's got going on. SteveGriff wrote:

I've listened to the songs off the Information now for about 3 months (starting with Cell Phone's Dead up until the leak a few days ago), and it seems that song for song, Beck hasn't done something this consistently good since Mutations or Odelay. Midnite Vultures, Guero pales compared to this album IMO. But meh, it's my opinion. Sea Change however, is the black sheep in the family.
Funny, just checking the songs off The Information that are on Radio Paradise's playlist.
