i've gone a bit country since i met you baby
i used to be so rock 'n' roll
it's a question of confidence, maybe
wandering off down a long, dusty road
banjo and violin
once i was lost in the crush of the crowd
and drums coming up through the floor
now it's lone strings that cry out loud
in minor keys whispered
through the cracks in the door
you walked in like a lonesome highway
tumbleweed at your heel
the question is, 'how big does the skey get?'
and am i alone in what i feel
if this is the state you find me in
blame it on the banjo and violin
blame it on the way i've been travelling
blame it on the banjo and violin

Of course, there are two 3 inch speakers about 12 inches behind my head and a sub woofer at my heels ( as every good dog should be), so hearing it may be easier in those circumstances.

still not hearing it myself. The instrumental break sounds to be an accordion and violin. Doesn't diminish the tune in any way of course. Maybe i'll hear the banjo next listen.
Try to use stereophonic equipment.

They were just in Nashville for a festival.
Nice echo. Haunting.

I regret to inform you that Lawrence has died ... he was crushed under several tons of bubbles . . . .
Conspiracy you ask?

Eclectic, right Bill? Bit like a cross between Dueling Banjos and Miserlou. Fine.
I hear violins, but no banjos.
The sound reminds me of Shivaree.
So verrrry bored of this

I've heard a lot of people want to ban sax & violins but I say what's wrong with them?

How can a jazz band play without a sax, or an orchestra without violins? That's just silly.
And that gal country group that got into trouble - you know, the Pixy Sticks? - how could they play without their violins?
I think we need MORE sax and violins! Bring back Ed Sullivan!
Have a nice day!
(old joke. sorry, I couldn't resist. I'll go back to working now)
Perhaps this could be followed by Talking Heads' "Sax & Violins"?

I still love this song ... such a cool mix of sounds, and her voice. Great lyrics too.

Uh oh. We are veering dangerously off-course here, first headed down Mediocrity Highway and looks like we are about to take a wrong turn on Sucko Blvd. Please abort this mission and return to Metallica immediately.

I don't OD on RP and this is the first I've heard the Audreys.
Get outside some and the songs will refresh themselves.

Me too!
i was just imagining Waits singing this tune (OK, replace "imagining" with "singing along in a laying-it-on-thick-Waits imitation voice"... but i digress) and Bill follows it up with a Little Drop of Poison! yay, i love this station!
This seems tango-influenced to me...even with the odd instrumentation. Shades of the Gotan Project!
I hear banjo throughout in the left earphone....

This song has been in my head for a week. Glad to hear it again!
I just got this CD. Highly recommended! Thanks Bill for turning me on to yet another great band I never would have heard otherwise.
She's got a "mmmmmmmmmmmm nice" kind of voice.
Any relation to "Sax and Violins"?
4->3 I am getting bored of it.

not necc. IN this song

This is the second time I've heard this track and my curiosity is definitely piqued, I must hear more of this band. Definitely seductive.

Taasha Coates. Yes. Mmmm Hmmm... more please.
I blame Violin mostly.
I am so captivated by this beautiful 'tango' and this band who just recently finished their 'Sheets to the Wind' tour and visited us here in WA, very cool dudes I must say!
