Some people get by
With a little understanding
Some people get by
With a whole lot more
I don't know
Why you gotta be so undemanding
One thing I know
I want more
I want more

(and I need all the love that I can't get to)
(and I need all the love I can get)
(and I need all the love that I can't get to)

D'you get scared to feel so much?
To let somebody touch you?
So hot, so cold, so far so out of control
Hard to come by, and harder to hold

Some people get by
With a little understanding
Some people get by
With a whole lot more
I don't know
Why you gotta be so undemanding
I want more

(and I need all the love I can get)
(and I need all the love that I can't get to)
(and I need all the love I can get)
(and I need all the love that I can't get to)

There are parts of me that don't get nervous
Not the parts that shake
You won't get what you deserve
You are what you take
Learning to cry for fun and profit
I'm not done yet
Counterfeit dollars or the english zloty
Anything I can get

Some people get by
With a little understanding
Some people get by
With a whole lot more
I don't know
Why you gotta be so undemanding
One thing I know
I want more

(and I need all the love I can get)
(and I need all the love that I can't get to)
(and I need all the love I can get)
(and I need all the love that I can't get to)

All the love that you can get
All the love
That I can't get to...

1990's. The Warehouse, Calgary Alberta. "Alternative" private nightclub owned by a flamboyant gay couple in a redneck city. One of the original and true 'safe spaces' for the freaks, goths, gays, metalheads, punks, artists and otherlings - a sideshow assortment of clientele who would get their asses kicked by the drunken mooks on Electric Avenue, were it not for us being able to close well after hours. Gorgeous door girls, adorable busboys, a mysterious manager, moody bartenders all employed in an authentic "Underground" club. Crazy murals popped from flat black walls, motley members awash in psychedelic projections, wild eyes glowing under black light, white limbs frozen in strobe - all moving to the thunderous cues of eccentric DJ's.
Drugs, drama, and drag queens... (RIP Marcelle)

The cage dancer, with her shaved head, tattoos and spiderweb earrings - would go wild when The Sisters of Mercy came on - it was a Sublime Time.

What a sweet surprise! Thanks for the memories RP.

What a great comment.  Thanks for all those vivid memories....and for sharing them in a way that makes some of us feel like we were there with you...

Love this song. Love the Sisters of Mercy. I’m wondering why “This Corrosion” isn’t on the RP playlist?
Great song!

So true. Spent a few late nights there myself!
Wicked track one of my favorite from SOM big thanks for the Sunday music surprises.
Love this song. Disapprove that RP fades out instead of including Andrew Eldritch's last loud "That you can't get!" that actually ends the song. :-(
F*cking fantastic.
Are these lyrics right? Seems instrumental...

Ah, yes, Eldritch and Co on the cusp of Goth and metal, before they fell right over into metal. The SoM sound is really distinctive - the echoey drums alone marks out their songs, added to which the esoteric, gnomic lyrics sung in Eldritch's, well, eldritch voice, nail them on. I particularly liked the songs with choral backing, like this effort. Floodland is a desert island disc for me, one that I would never be without, yea even beyond the grave.  8 from the closet Goth Nottingham jury.

Wow! New Model Army yesterday, Black Sabbath this morning, Sisters Of Mercy this afternoon.
(Sorry if you happen to be 5 or so hours behind). You can't say you don't get variety on RP.

Great to hear this one again. it'd be pretty boring if we all liked the same thing, wouldn't it eh?

To say that it's mediocre (even though woefully so) is quite generous on your part.
The very beginning, the sound of the keyboards... sounds SO CHEAP!
The rest... "listenable".
My Yamaha does not spend much time at -10 dB but this was some.
Thank you Bill!!! I Love Sisters of Mercy!!! {#Heartkiss}

Love Sisters of Mercy! However, this is not their most beatiful song... First and Last and Always! {#Sunny}

Well, I'd know that sound anywhere. Though, I'd guessed that it was Mission U.K. instead of the Sisters. All part of the same family. Hallelujah. :-)
Love Andrew Eldritch - just wish he had kept up recording more!  RP - you should add Detonation Boulevard to your playlist.  It's dark and wicked and rocks too!

RP Rockin out!  Love it!
Wow, another one I've never heard before from "back then" and another instant like. How is it that there's so much good music from the 80s and 90s that never saw the light of day on mainstream radio?

Wow, I can't believe I'm hearing this here! Keep it up! :)
Thanks! Getting up to dance now...
Sisters,,,reminds me of my youth. That can't be a bad thing. Now bill just needs to play some "lords of the new church" and my day would be complete!

Billy Idol of the new millenium?

I'll comment.
Derivative, formulaic tripe of inorganic, label-driven origin.
Bleah, bleah, and ever, bleah.
Just never liked it. No offense intended to those who enjoy TSOM or whose memories of the group are elegiac.

Oh flashback to the way back of my youth. LOVE it. Too bad he cancelled due to illness when I was supposed to see them in DC. Boo hiss.
From Wikipedia:  "More" was a single from the album Vision Thing released in 1990.  The album version runs 8:22.

True. The Sisters slipped from Goth into standard HM with their Vision Thing album, and aren't a patch on the Sisters of the 80s who were dark, edgy and innovative (that special drum sound, for a start). This is ok but is a pale shadow of their previous self. 6 from the (closet Goth) Nottingham jury.

Does anyone else hear a little blend of David Bowie or Talking Heads in the (male) singer's voice?  Nice listen.

wow it makes me so happy to hear this.. what a powerful song and a welcome flashback.
