Maybe I would know who I'm meant to be
If I only knew where you're taking me
Would I be afraid?
If I'd had the time to pack a bag
To say goodbye, to not look back
If I'd picked out those precious things
That I'd hold close as the night draws in
Would I be afraid?
If we hadn't left in the dead of night
Two silent shapes in the endless black
If the hazy ray of dawn
Had lit the path of your frightened pawn
Would I be afraid? Would I be afraid?
The sea and the storm rock our boat
Our beautiful peagreen boat
The sea and the storm rock our boat
So surrender me to the whim of the waves
Surrender me, surrender me.
KT Tunstall's voice is unmistakable. Lovely
That explains a lot.
You are reffering to KT Tunstall?
I find the 'topiness' excessive, and the in-breath consequently distractively accentuated. Compare this to the complete absence in the following Kate Bush 'Army Dreamers'. Different production values.
Bill just put Army Dreamers in the playlist immediately following Sophie!
Ooops. Lyrics now posted.
Dang, she sounds interesting— Sophie Solomon (born June 6, 1978) is a British violinist, songwriter and composer who fuses many different musical influences into her music...
Solomon began playing the violin at the age of two. At four she met Yehudi Menuhin and was taken to see the great cellist Mstislav Rostropovich. For the first five years she played totally by ear, learning to read music at the age of seven...
I am glad I have not rated this song yet— there is still time to resurrect it... it be growing on me... hmmmm...
I know exactly what would have happened if I had given my son a violin at age two... and it would have ended with me thinking "That's why we can't have anything nice around here!"
Bill should follow up with Lazarus by PT and David Bowie.
Google Translate and IMTranslator come up a little short...unless you're dropping some good acid, MisterF:
"She has a wonderful voice, very calm, makes me think of our warehouse start the seder"
Happy Hannukah!
I am partial to this song... hmmmm...
Dude take your pulse. I have concerns.

I like the title of this song... other than that, yuck...
Surprised nobody else replied to this. This is KT Tunstall on guest vocals. Sophie Solomon is playing the violin.
Thanks for that. I had sort of guessed it as I'm a big fan of KT, and I don't think Sophie Solomon does much singing. Lovely song, lovely singer, dreamy instrumentals. Beautiful :o)
I think it's actually a viola...a step up from the violin!

If so, then that's Bruce White playing the really sweepy, melancholy bits.
Gorgeous song tho. Sophie is a great composer!
Very nice regardless...to Amazon we go...again
Thats because it was.

Nä, men nu får ni väl ändå ge er!

Does she sing with Oi va Voi as well? Or did she?
Agreed. Then the violin sweeps me away.
Jo, traumhaft. Augen zu und wegfliegen ist angesagt.
You ask a lot of questions. Are you from the RCMP or something?
Easy for you to say.
I think it's actually a viola...a step up from the violin!
Um... maybe its a step down... tonality wise? Kinda in between the cello and violin...
A-HA! I thought for a moment it sounded like KT Tunstall...
... Turns out KT's a vocalist on the track. As I'm a devout fan of all things KT, they should consider this purchased by me already (having only heard this for the first time now, shamefully).
Another excellent pick Bill!
Thanks!

Same here, but KT does guitar rather than violin. They are both excellent, expressive singers. 8 from the Nottingham jury.
That cello breaks my heart.

You'd think, if nothing else, I coulda' figured it out from the pics....and my ignorance is embarrassing.
And from her wiki page, she plays the violin!

Sophie Solomon, live at Gagarin 205, Athens, 04 Nov 2006.
"I love her eyes, she seems lost in the music pathways of her mind. best place to be."
I think it's actually a viola...a step up from the violin!
It is KT? I guess I needs to check me some internets.
Sounds like we need Angela McCluskey and KT in a concert set or album together. Maybe with Brandi Carlile?
Well, I totally thought that it was K.T.Tunstall.
She sings with the violin, both there and for Oi Va Voi.
distinguished singer, a well elaborated style and until sophisticated to make songs.

You can't live the music unless you find it on your own.
Yes sir Mr bokey.
I am happy to entertain myself with my own bits of musical hackery, but oh to have such as is hers.
je suis d'accord, surtout les violons ...
Not half bad though this and holy devil are by far the best tracks on the album.
