Weird, but I keep getting snips of Bowie, "Wild Is The Wind", from Station to Station...
He's simply great

YES!!
EXCELLENT!!   Thanx RP!
Does this sound like it may have featured in a 1960s film noir? Like, an optimistic moment of first witnessing unfettered beauty, only to be later revealed its monstrous underbelly...?!
From which Quinten Tarantino flick?
Exc ÂȘlente !!
Yet another album I purchased thanks to Radio Paradise play.  You're right, its great

could be from breaking bad
He plays the guitar so effortlessly. And you can swear you hear the guitar saying things...

This entire album is simply wonderful.

After the Buena Vista days, Ry Cooder got back together with Manuel Galban from those sessions.  Manuel was a member of Los Zafiros, a pre-revolution doh wop band who recorded the original version of this song.  This is a great under rated CD with more many more gems on it including a Dean Martin and Doris Day classic "Secret Love". A very different take on Cuban music yet retaining a strong Cuban feel.  This was recorded as well as Buena Vista at the Egram studios on Obispo street in Havana.  Listen to Ry and Manuel's guitars conversing back and forth throughout this CD.  I have an extensive and eclectic (much like RP) vinyl and CD collection and this is in my top 10-20 albums/CDs.  A 10 for me, only because I can't vote higher.

Cooder has an amazing ability to flow beautifully in duet scenarios, check out  A Meeting By The River .

A meeting by the river is sublime - One of my favourite albums.
Wonderful tune, especially now when heavy rain keeps pounding onto the roof.
Awesome
just beautiful

Definitely evocative of a time of slab-steel automobiles, sinuous grooves, and a brace of stiff cocktails thrown past the teeth by Five-Thirty...
I always dug the Caddy fins. Yes, they signaled all sorts of cultural dysfunction...but they were so cool.
A sultry 9. I dig.
Ry Cooder keeps trying and changing it up.   Nice to se old guy not falling in faded glory rut... It's also very nice... good music
Bought the album some time ago - it does not leave any of the gadgetology devices I have   ;-)
Can't decide if its a 6 or a 10...so settled on an 8.
SHould see surfers in a sunset for this one...

Roy Buchannan writhes in easy listening hell every time this tune plays.
Extra points for the '59 Caddy on the cover...

Swell cubie guy this Manuel. Have a taco on me! Bend it dude!

8 is right. Maybe 8.1
1959 was the last year that American cars were allowed to be imported into Cuba. If you visit Havana today, I am told you will see many 1950s autos, some them in immaculate condition, on the streets.

Yes, you're looking at an artist rendering of the classic fin and dual tail lights of a 1959 Cadillac.

Umm. Slow dance at the prom. (That's not necessarily a criticism. I'm enjoying it.)
A slow sad lament in an old New Mexico frontier town.. this is beautiful.
only 3 comments?  i kinda like the sound of the guitar here..
smooth.....................{#Cool}
Bravo!!!!!!! great song, Ry has been amazing me for years

Magnificent performance of the guitarists in this album, impresses me the singular style of Manuel Galvan plaing the guitar Fender Telecaster with heavy gauge strings, the melodic runs and chordal patterns with influences of traditional Cuban music;  La Luna en Tu Mirada, written by composer cuban Luis Chanivecky;  in the accomplishment of this album they had still collaborated a long list of musicians, between which if they find some elements of the band Buena Vista Social Club, as Orlando “Cachaíto” López, on bass, and the percussionists include Jim Keltner, Cooder's son, Joachim Cooder and the conga master Miguel Angá Díaz, beyond the proper Ry Cooder on organ, guitar, electric bass, steel guitar, piano, producer, vibraphone, tres.
