From where you are
You see the smoke start to arise
Where they play cards
And you walk over
Softly moving passed the guards
The stakes are getting higher
You can feel it in your heart
He calls you bluff
He is the ace you never thought
He played that much
And now it's more than all this cards
You want to touch
You never know if winning this
Could really be enough
Take a look
Beyond the moon
You see the stars.
And when you look around
You know the room by heart
I have never dreamed it
Have you ever dreamed a night like this
I cannot believe it
I may never see a night like this
When everything you think is incomplete
Starts happening when you are cheek to cheek
Could you ever dream it
I have never dreamed, dreamed a night like this
How many times
Have I been waiting by the door
To hear these chimes
To hear that someone debonaire has just a arrived
And opened up to see
My world before my eyes
That silhouette creates an image
On the night I can't forget
It has the scent of something special
I can't rest
If I resist temptation
Oh, I know for sure that I will lose the bet
I walk away and suddenly it seems
I'm not alone
In front of me he stands
I stop, before he goes
I have never dreamed it
Have you ever dreamed a night like this
I cannot believe it
I may never see a night like this
When everything you think is incomplete
Starts happening when you are cheek to cheek

Outstanding song, so fun.
One hit wonder. And I don't mean it despectively! It is as good as can be! It might be hard following up with the next one.

it might not be a masterpiece but it is one of those tunes that can change a mood, which is the whole point of pop music, imho

Wonderful song. So well crafted. I am trying to write a proposal but this has me dancing around the room
This always weirdly reminds me of the Italian Pink Panther movie song- Meglio Stasera. Worth watching just to see Inspector C dance...
Great rhythms, vocals, and overall musical composition.

As always, I'm impressed by the breadth of audience Bill intrigues.

Don't know why that would categorically eliminate appreciation of a tune, but you're almost on target: the song was written to shill Martini brand vermouth in the Netherlands market. I got this album for Mrs. Hencini a year or so ago after hearing a couple songs here on RP. Not especially strong stuff, but this is one of the better tracks.
Time for a Martini !
Since i discovered RP one song was playing in my head... and right now i just remembered it :D

I actually like the music much more than her voice.
Well, good for her! It's nice to hear a Dutch artist on an international radio station. We hear this particular song all the time in Holland, but it's a good start ;-). It's a shame people have to be so negative, even here where I imagine a lot of people who love a great variety of music 'come together'.

Aaaarrggghhh, she's the so-called Dutch superstar. One of the very few that seem to make it outside of the Dutch borders. Good for her, not for me. Horrible fake person who acts as being nice but in fact is very arrogant. And the last few years she headlined every medium large festival her in the Netherlands.
Sigh, i'm so tired of hearing and seeing this woman...
