Or just the silence of a moment
It's always hard to tell
Down in the way
They cut it open and they sold it
It's always hard to tell
I saw a soldier man
He locked his eyes like they were red
Ooh but it's hard they can't resist
You may risk it all
You'd risk it all for the memory
But it's living under your skin
Love's the key to the things that we see
And don't mind chasing
Leave the light on in the yard for me
When we were the same
We stroked our arms and we wore them thin
Ah the sadness it was in
You don't miss it man
You got it all like a memory
Now it's living under your skin
Love's the key to the games that we play
But don't mind losing
Love's the key to the things that we see
But you don't mind moving
It's a door...
It's the key to the dark...
Love's a game; it's always the same
Oh, all the way

hilarious!

Silly me. I was actually doubting Bill's ability to make such a transition. I'm in no way suggesting that "Lost In The Dream" is the musical equivalent, but it sure helped my comfortable return to this planet - like awakening from a fantastic sleep and then sliding into a pair of cushy warm slippers.

Hey William, 9 years later and may you see your comments are not censored, but still subject to ridicule, especially since the success of "TWOD."
I am bumping to 10 on the second listen. Wow. Very good selection. I want to stress that my response is not an "emotional" response. I do not even know what that means. When you see a beautiful sunrise or landscape is it "emotional"? Not for me. It's beauty --- it is like all these chemicals inmy head firing off at the same time and reverberating through my body. I just orderd CD
for me, this song is a all time 9 (maybe a ten, but i'm a pessimist), great, that it is wonderful to others too
I'd like to dedicate this song to Cousin Thomas, a beautiful soul who left too soon. This was one of his favorite songs.
Sorry man. I think I would have enjoyed his company.

Listen, it's William's garden. Don't like the foliage, take a bus to another party.

William, you garnered over 220 likes on this post. How is this possible being such a, in your own words, 'fascist'? ROTFL and KUTGW!
There has yet been no equal to this, in my experience. I can never forget how my buddy Mike and I were held in its spell for a full two plays through on my Audiovox 8-track tape deck through the Jensen Tri-axials in the deck of my hotrod '70 Cutlass 'S' Coupe. I was parked on a dirt country road in a lush, mind-blowing place we liked to call Dinosaur Valley, one of our local favortite fishing holes, party spots, makeout places, later to be underwater in an Army Corps of Engineers lake project. At the time, we were unable to do anything but look at the scenery, look at each other, toke more weed, and go, WHOAH, DUDE! I still love and admire how, with this effort, they were able to finally get their act together in a whole new way, after the departure of their extraordinarily visionary founder, Syd, had understandably left them rather directionless for a bit, and how they made such incredibly rich immortal musical and lyrical art with such timeless themes as War, Death, Religion, Mental Illness, and more, all so damn fun and downright INTOXICATING to listen to, no matter how deep and dark. For me, this is still the absolute pinnacle of artisic achievement.
dude - are we listening to the same song?? :-)
Bill is a communist!
Can you believe he private messaged me to say I could only rate the music if I like it?
That I can only post positive feedback or I get terminated?
How democratic? WTF?

Calm down McCarthy, are you sure ?
In 2017 I was lying in the chemical stupor of chemotherapy when this album came out. It became its own kind of therapy.
Your chemo must have been kindler & gentler than the R-CHOP I went through in 2011. Anything I listened to more than once under R-CHOP quickly became my least favorite music.
I'm confused too. There are lots of things others do that we don't and vice versa. We can't be Russian, for example. Or birds.
Becoming Russian is easy - just learn the language and enjoy the culture and they will accept you.

I had a teacher of history at college that the first class gave a quick lesson on political system through out history. Democracy, socialism, communisms, monarchies, etc. At the end He said. What do you guys think this class should be. Surely all of us said, a democracy Prof... He looked at us and said, you are all wrong, this class is a mf monarchy and I am the MF King, hahaha. What a legend.
Well RP is a Monarchy, and guess who is the King and who is the Queen?

Both ends of the political spectrum seem to devolve into authoritarianism, but I subscribed to this channel because of it's decision making structure and because it exposes me to a lot of music that I have overlooked. Thanks, Bill.

Maybe just say dictator and call it a day. I'd be happy living under Bill's iron thumb any way to look at it.

That just demonstrates a real lack of ambition on your part!

Ever hear of Nick Drake? Richard Thompson? Paul Weller?
Sooo fed up listening to this mediocre zzzzzz.
something fresh pls.
How about you go and have a cold shower? It will be fresh and it may even wake you up from your slumber....
I have been waiting for decades for a radio station to do that! What a pleasant surprise, I could n't believe it.
Maybe next you play Tears for Fears "Head Over Heels/ Broken" and not out edit "Broken" !!!
Peace and keep up the great station(s)
Can't help myself - Bob Dylan meets the Waterboys?
Yep.
bump

That's so clever, you should be saving your best work for John Oliver or Jimmy Kimmel.

Thanks, Bill & Rebecca, for once again turning me on to an excellent group, for the millionth time in the 10+ years I've been here.
A nice and cosy bedroom....?
One time in the last 30 days would already be too much.
This is probably my favorite record of the last 5 years.

Bill, You should use your veto more often. Comments should be about enlightening people about the music as some regular posters do, not whining that they don't like it. We don't care.....push the advance button if you don't like it.
Yes, he doesn't mumble as much, but it is still that Dylan-like, half-spoken , raspy style of singing.
Yup, similar tone to a young B.D
Thanks Bill for turning on to an awesome band !

OMG!
Real RP drama, and I missed it !!
And lol, BillG: how does one answer a fascist's question?
I will say, TWOD found a lifelong fan in me thanks to RP. I say Long Live RP!

Tom Petty and Bob had a baby

You have to be pretty bad to upset the Magnificent Professor Marvel.

Looked. and recruited like a soldier man.
Now we both
Look like we stepped right out of drift store
I would say the same. Really good stuff here.
Now i'm worried. How many is a 'lifetimes quota'? Whats my score? How many have i got left? am i in danger of being 'terminated'?
Note to self - must be more positive!!

Benevolent Dictator has a nice ring to it.
That's quite a statement for someone who is 62 years old.
I prefer the term Leviathan myself.
Personally, I am quite happy with the way you 'authoritatively' manage RP.
Thank you Bill!
If people don't like the music here then go elsewhere. Keep up the good music! I am a fan!

All I can say, on behalf of (almost?) everyone is THANK YOU BILL!
I'm all for free speech, but when one is endlessly and exclusively negative, it just becomes tiresome and annoying.
Farewell calle01; wishing you the endless misery that you seem to love so much.

I don't understand why you listen RP if you don't like it, waste of time, no?
Bobby D. progeny. I like 'em.
Ah, that explains it!
Absolutely unpleasant vocals plus excruciatingly slow rhythm.
This band is coming to Vancouver. How is the band live?
I saw them last time at the Rickshaw; great show.
This time they're playing the Vogue, which is a better venue.

If I don't rate these songs honestly..
Bill would never know what would the best direction to take his set lists.
"the best direction?"
Don't delude yourself.. You are only one person, The "power" belongs to the majority that rate it much higher.
Also on every time i log in ??
Karma. For being so consistently and aggressively negative.
The next time you hear this song (and you will, you know you will), remember that you made it happen.
Enjoy!
Why do you listen to RP when 63% of what you rate is a "1?"
Go find some other place to your "liking" instead of dragging the ratings down!
Yup, and if you can't find a solution then declare a war
