Draw the shades
Close my eyes
I'm miles away
I'll spend the day
In my own way
Count the hours
Mark the days,
Underneath it all
The rising swirling
Of the waves
I'll spend the day
In my own way
All the plans
That were made
Let them die
Let them fade
I'll spend the day
In my own way
Please understand
I'm only human
After all's said and done
Only here a moment and
The moment's gone
I'll spend the day
In my own way
Please understand
I'm only human
At times I fail
At times at fault
Don't break your back
Tryin to carry
Weight of the world
Can't please them all
Lock the door
Draw the shades,
Close my eyes
I'm miles away
I'll spend the day
In my own way
I'll spend the day
In my own way
I'll spend the day
In my own way
Okay, so in another thread I went off like a firecracker on some people abusing commercial free RP for their commercial links, whereas this right now makes me laugh out loud --- perhaps that's just the vibe of the song, impossible to get angry while listening to it?!!! Good job Ray, mellow me out
Also, mental note, rewatch Jamon Jamon
Trash song, such annoying voice. Can't believe it has 7,5! Shocked, to say the least.
Maboleth - catch a vibe man!
It’s RESToration.
While the masses are out hoarding every moment of summer, marking territory at the beach, or squeezing into festival lines, maybe loading the family into the RV to spend hours in crawling traffic, or standing with their mountain bikes, waiting for a lift ~ there’s nothing wrong with sitting solo in the shade somewhere and just BEing.
At the time of writing, 48% of the songs you've rated have been a 10. The next most frequent rating is 1, with a 17% share of all songs you've rated. You seem to either love or hate what you hear, with little room in between . When someone sees that you've rated Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks" a 1, and rated Red Hot Chili Peppers' "21st Century" a 10, it's difficult to give your opinions on the value of a song any consideration. Having said that, I'm curious to know if you suffer from head trauma. Or perhaps you're hearing impaired. Well now, hang on a minute - I see in another of your peevish comments that you mistook "whiny" for "whinny." That explains it. You're a HORSE!!!
remind me not to piss you off!
Spot on.
Mayby Alan Parsons?
Well, a good buddy of mine died last month at age 57. You never know how long your earthly future will be, so grab as many of those moments that you can.
Lost a buddy yesterday.
I'm 77, he was 54.
There's no telling when your ending's come.
Live today like it's your last time to say 'Love you, ' to whomever that might be for you...
Egg-zactly.
Reminds me of Pink Floyd from Meddle and/or DSOTM.
Oh my goodness now I really wish that David Gilmour would have covered this at some point. This is already a 10 for me, I can only imagine what his unleashed guitar and vocals could have done to this song!
Trash song, such annoying voice. Can't believe it has 7,5! Shocked, to say the least.
With the help of your negative post, the avg rating has gone up to 7.6 now with 4434 total rates....which means I'll go +1 to 11 today! LLRP

Did Gilmour produce this?
Spot on.
I'd suggest to Ray that there's more out there than Pink Floyd.

I guess you haven't listened to much of Ray.
<snip, snip> ... but as I enter the part of life where my earthly future is very likely shorter than my past, wow .... how the words and atmosphere of this song resonate for me.

I am floating away in my big pillowy bed with marshmallow treats, Bailey's on ice & a Bowl on my side table ready for fire. What is the only thing I am missing?
A shot of insulin prepped?
News flash: the entire rest of the world is not identical to you. Luckily.
lol well put
yep. me too.
yep. me three.
Don't know exactly why, but this song always makes me think of summer evenings at my childhood home, relaxing in a hammock and watching fireflies as the sun set.
Bill (and Rebecca) turned a LOT of people onto a lot of interesting artists and music.
I am one of them.
Sometimes this lounge music is just right.
Your kidding! Right?
Whose kidding?

A fine example of polar opposite opinions.
They do NOT need to meet...
gorgeous dreamy song - really brings me to a peaceful place and love the twangy/spacey guitar

As much as I’m enthralled with this song, the last two songs on this album, A Murmuration of Starlings > Wouldn’t it Make a Lovely Photograph will blow your mind. All comparisons to Pink Floyd are justified, and it’s beautiful.
The message reminded me of another "make the world go away" song I enjoyed as a kid – the Beatles "I'm Only Sleeping".
Bought the vinyl for just this one song. Am a Lamontagne-fan anyways, but this one just blew me away/took me in.. it‘s the sound that suits him.
me too! Thanks again RP.
ok song, but all of his stuff sounds the same.
Your kidding! Right?
ok song, but all of his stuff sounds the same.
? Try cotton buds.
However, this song does the job in 16 bars.
I really thought it's Pink Floyd
In the first few bars that is what I was thinking.
9 for now but surely moving up soon.

Ditto....LLRP & Bill and Rebecca 😁✌️
Very unique album from Mr. LaMontagne
Mixed with early My Morning Jacket

Based on the 2 down-votes (to go against 52 up), apparently there is one other person identical to the OP.
I am not sure what the ouroboros reference is, though? A snake eating its own tail ... am I missing something?
It represents infinity.

very much this
unfortunately this was all he had. Ray has no concert rock in his repertoire and I sleep th
More Floyd influences in Ray's latest album.
More a Gilmour influence than a Water's one.
From the WP entry: "He cited the Talk Talk album Spirit of Eden as stylistically similar to his vision of an unstructured, free-flowing album."
Agree. I love Ray.
I like this but the face plant is too fast for the song's tempo.
sounds like it because it is PF - from Meddle
Good song but I would not go that far:)
Cool tune.
My thoughts exactly!
No, at least 22 other people have seen fit to bring that up. So far it's about 16% of all the comments for this song.

15 upvotes. 1 downvote. Undoubtedly from the OP. Seems they are regularly the outlier.
Agreed. I bought the album and really get that vibe.
