Now I let go everything that I've known
Let it go on, let it roll out with the tide
I can't think of a thing that hasn't been shot through with pain
Like a nightingale's song in the dead of the night

Goodbye, so long, farewell all I've been, ooo, oblivion
Throw me in the ocean, ooo, see if I can swim
I'm wild again, I'm a starchild again
I come ten million miles, ooo, I'm burning

I'm a summer dream, I'm a real light beam, I'm worthy
Of all the goodness and the love that the world's gonna give to me
I'ma give it back ten times, people, are you ready?
If you think you're alone, hold on, I'm coming

Now I unfold every lie I was told
Watch 'em wither, watch 'em scatter with with wind
I can't think of a thing that hasn't been born of a dream
Like a Love Supreme, like a Circle Unbroken

Goodbye, so long, farewell all I've been, ooo, oblivion
Throw me in the ocean, ooo, Mama, watch me swim
I'm wild again, I'm a starchild again
I come ten million miles, ooo, I'm burning

I'm a summer dream, I'm a real light beam, I'm worthy
Of all the goodness and the love that the world's gonna give to me
I'ma give it back ten times, people, are you ready?
If you think you're alone, hold on, I'm coming

Don't you know, don't you know, don't you know
You are never alone

Sounds like an updated “I Shall Be Released.” in a good way!

Nah, easily a 9 right out of the gate, so beautiful. And as kingart said, sweet, positive and thoughtful. Another poster mentioned her NPR Fresh Air interview. Do listen to it. Quite amazing what she went through growing up in Montreal and how she's come out the other side in a much better place. That experience and positivity resonates in her lyrics and music.

Great interview on Fresh Air podcast. Worth a listen
This is a 10 any day of the week and twice on Sundays. I can't ask more from a song . Consummate artistry
The beginning of the chorus is two octaves of pure ecstasy

I could not get Nightflyer out of my head for days after the first time I heard it.  Love this woman.

Man, this is so nice...
I am a 55 year old man.

This song brings me to tears of sadness and then tears of joy all in 4 min.

Something wrong with this on the RP home page:  "released:2023-09-08". That date hasn't occurred yet. Or maybe RP has special powers to get access to as yet unreleased songs?

Ya think?

Me too, ScottishWillie!  My ears already have an ability to trigger the "hey, that's  an Allison Russell tune!!" comment in my brain, even when I'm casually listening (i.e. cheap Bluetooth head phones or worse, straight from the phone speaker) - there's so much intriguing about her voice and delivery, simultaneously she sounds similar to seventies soul sistas and so modern that her music hasn't even been released yet ;-P

LLRP!!

thanks - knew the voice sounded familiar but different enough to make me wonder...an incredible sound and may just get the album

You do understand that record companies have released tracks from upcoming albums for...forever. That's all that is happening here.
My first thought was this is a song from the 70's I missed (a compliment, at least from my standpoint.)  Surprised to see it's from 2023.
she is in heavy, heavy rotation.

I see these comments all the time and cannot understand anyone's confusion.  The people who think they're being funny are one thing, but the truly confused people are another issue.  Have they not lived in the real world long enough (and been even casually alert enough) to know that release dates vs early promo copies has been a thing for a long, long, long time?

I've heard the theme melody before. From a late Serbian singer/songwriter VLADA DIVLJAN, the song is called ODVEDI ME. Maybe he stole it from somebody else, but this is too similar to be a coincidence.

Saw her in NYC last week, great performer!
This hit the spot tonight.
Sweet. Positive and thoughtful. Me likey.
Hmm, nice new tune, starts with a 6.
