As I separate my cardboard
Set my tax aside to fund another war
My spirit wakes up asking
If we're spending what we can't afford
Would you come home
If you didn't recognize it
Home is trying to be America
They just don't advertise it
I always say they'd love your mind
You just don't vocalize it
We all get out of our mind
I just don't glamorize it
But doesn't it feel like the end?
Something's coming for us
And maybe we're not prepared
That this might only be day one
But doesn't it feel like the end?
Something's coming for us
I think we're not prepared
That this might only be day one
Thinkin' of ourselves, we are divided
But if you fly your flag, they'll weaponize it
Doesn't it feel like the end?
When we can't even agree on what was said
Would you come home
If you didn't recognize it?
Home is tryin' to be America
They just don't advertise it
But doesn't it feel like the end?
Something's coming for us
And maybe we're not prepared
That this might only be day one
But doesn't it feel like the end?
Something's coming for us
I think we're not prepared
That this might only be day one

Read the lyrics. It's quite obvious what he's signing about, with lines like -
"When we can't even agree on what was said"

When there is literally audio and video evidence of what was said... and a certain faction of people still go into denial or making excuses mode.

Sad.
I don’t get it totally. Becoming like America after elections or before. I know in England you can be jailed for posting negative views. According to tracking, there are more people jailed for posting “offensive  language “ than in Russia.
This is a beautiful song but it does have hints of paranoia in the lyrics.  I'm not so sure any of our current situation feels like the end.  Politics aside, people will always disagree with each other and that's just what people do.  I went from a bible-thumping evangelical Christian to a bible-quoting Atheist.  I've seen both sides.

The most important thing is that we, as humans, continue to disagree without resorting to violence.  We can always work things out for the betterment of everyone.
