Oh she's a rocker she take after me
And she's a roller run in the family
She's a rock and roll baby a real gone twister
But I'm telling you, Mister
Don't you mess around with
My little sister, no
No, no

I don't know you
But I know your kind
I know I'm right
'Cause I can read your mind
Well I know you think
You can't resist her
But I'm telling you, Mister
Don't you mess around with
My little sister No
No, no

I promised the folks
I would not keep her out late
Because she's too young to party
Too young to date
Oh you take your hands off her
Find yourself another
Or you're gonna have to answer to
This Big Brother
Na na na na na na na
Na na

And now I tell you,
I ain't had fun all night
'Cause all you fellas
Keep trying to treat her right
Well she may blow your mind
Like an old transistor
But I'm telling you, Mister
Don't you mess around with
My little sister no
No No

I promised the folks
I would not keep her out late
Because she's too young to party
Too young to date
Oh you take your hands off her
Find yourself another
Or you're gonna have to answer to
This Big Brother
Na na na na na na na na
Na na

Don't you mess around
Don't you mess around
Don't you mess around
Don't you mess around
Don't you mess around
Don't you mess around now
Don't you mess around with
My little sister now

This is some rawkin' awesomeness!

Love the 50's style piano playing.

Not a fan of the transition to this one:

Now Playing:
Michelle Shocked - My Little Sister
The Stone Roses - Love Spreads
Stevie Wonder - Superstition
Elbow - The Fix

My ears were not prepared.
I'm sure the song is fine on its own or in a stylistically similar set, but when it started twangin' at me after Stone Roses, I said, "Wtf is this?! MUTE!"

I disagree.  The rock => rockabilly, though stylistically different, kept me grooving and the volume up.  Of course I am fan of both, so that made it easier.
One of my all time favorite tunes. It's got it all; great drums, great bassline, cool guitar work, great lyrics. (Maybe not so many RockaBilly fans on RP, hence the low rating here). Saw her do this one in Chico (just down the hill from Paradise) a few weeks ago. She's still got it. Willy Porter opened for her and he was absolutely fantastic!!! If you don't know Willy, Check him out.

Nice "sister" set going on here. I can think of a few more. Mark Erelli's "My Little Sister (makes more than you)" is the first that comes to mind. Let's see what Bill comes up with.

Michelle Shocked doing her best Chrissie Hynde impression. Still pretty good.
