This love cannot be bought or sold
It's timeless as a story often told
Oh, and this love is never well behaved
Makes me wanna testify
Stand up, tell the world I'm saved

Oh, daughters of Jerusalem
I have seen the day break
And the shadows flee away

I'll break the chains of fear
In the name of this love
Laugh away the tears
In the name of this love

And this love, it doesn't bow its head
It don't need anybody's blessing
And don't care what anybody says, oh

Oh, daughters of Jerusalem
I have seen the day break
And the shadows flee away

I'll break the chains of fear
In the name of this love
Laugh away the tears
In the name of this love

Oh, daughters of Jerusalem
I have seen the day break
And the shadows flee away
Ooh, ooh

I'll break the chains of fear
In the name of this love
Laugh away the tears
In the name of this love
Name of this love

...with Billy Graham. Still, if I can live with reggae's Songs of Praise I can put up with godsquad rock, I guess.

The overt Christian thing put me off a little, but there's no denying the passion of the sentiment.  Had to look up the lyrics...at first, I thought she was singing "in the name of Islam"...{#Mrgreen}
This is a solid 7 for me, don't care for the chorus but over all I like it okay. But today I got that twinge of "tired of this" and thought maybe we could find something else from her maybe?

I second that comment!  Good stuff. She's got a great, comfortable vibrato - not too fast, not to slow.  Yum.{#Clap}

I like it.  I can see why it's a red flag waved in front of some people... but I like it even better for that!
No way! Dayton's own! I can't remember the last time I heard her, it's been so long. Thanks for pulling out this gem!
Gets my vote for the worst snare drum recording ever.

Good point, I really like Animal Logic, lots of talent in that short lived band. There is no Animal Logic on RP play list, I need to upload some and hope it will pass Rebecca's screening process. I think it would play well in the RP format.

Sheryl Crow ...........ppffffffbbbbbttttt. I like this. It has some feeling behind it.
Wow, wow and WOW!

Lot of references here to Sheryl Crow. Thinking more Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. Nice sound, great voice. Good find, Bill! I'd give it an 8 right out the box (first listen).
Oh yeah - much more like Chrissie Hynde than Sheryl Crow. Anyway I'd give it a generous 4/10 first listen.

I like Kim, never sure where to place her music though. It's not real country.

How many times can I vomit during one song? I'm about to find out.

I hate that I like this song.

Thanks just the lift I need before getting out to the light
What ridiculous lyrics. It's as if she just wanted to hear her on voice say those catchy phrases.

The text on the cover says "Starman" in japanese. Some kind of Bowie reference mayhaps?
How nice to hear someone with something to say. Love the music as well.
Damn, here voice is really bothering me. Bleuh :P. Naggg... naaaaaaggg
she sounds like the vocalist from Animal Logic
interesting and varied reviews on this album but I'm really enjoyin' this song, whatever this love!

Yeah... sounds great... never heard of her. Thanks again R.P. Offered before the Indigo Girls... nice fit. Who says it never rains in southern California? Beautiful rainy days here on the Central Coast too! New Christmas toy and a Dell XPS, a grand view of Monterey Bay, Radio Paradise, NFL Sunday & the Niners, a rainy day... and a New Year! Studying CS2. Mug of hot coffee. Bliss!
Much hipper than either Crow of Etheridge; this song makes me tap my feet.

Had the pleasure of meeting her, very nice. Her songs move me. Thanks
"break away the tears In the name of this love"
Someone wants to sing about their love... let it ring... "be it cosmic muffin or hairy thunderer". Praise the Freedom! Praise the Love!
This is f'g great! Sounbds like Deborah Holland in Animal Logic. Where do I get it - oh, wait. I know.
The more I hear it, the more I like it. And it sounds like some of the posters here need to replace the battery in their Miracle Ear.

She mentions getting saved in there... I know, Muslims get saved too.
lyrics are awful...but the tune is good....

Thanks! Just reiterating what I/we said back then as my alter work ego!. The song's worth it! Darn good tune.

Err, no, what the poster meant was that the chorus sounds as though "in the name of islam" is the series of words being sung.

I love this song, as well as "No Judges" which is also on the album "Rise". Kim Richey is awesome!

Not sure if I like the contents of the song, but the hook and melody are DAMN catchy.
Heh. At first when I heard this I thought, wow, a Sheryl Crow song I actually kinda like. Then I looked at the playlist and saw it wasn't her. No wonder my ears weren't bleeding by the end. Sorry, just not a Sheryl Crow fan. Kim Richey can stay though.

Does she sing like Sheryl Crow or does Sheryl Crow sing like her?
Pretty good. Also like her breakup advice below.
Dang! I thought this was Aimee Mann until I looked. Really nice, thanks, RP!
A friend introduced me to Kim Richey. I went out and bought her material that I could find at the used cd store. She has a great voice and good material. Very fun!

Great song. Great artist. I met Kim Richey a few months ago. What a nice woman. She collaborates with a lot of artists I enjoy.
Lots of Kim Richey lyrics & chords here: https://adamschneider.net/music/kr/index.html including this song-- enjoy!
Great song! Anybody has the lyrics? Didn't succeed in finding them on the internet.
Nice tune, full tight sound... I like Sheryl Crow too... Guess it\'s time to do some research on Kim Richey ;)

That's no biggie; Mother Theresa told me the same thing. ;-)
OK...time to brag. I hung with Kim (went out to dinner with her) after "Foxfest" (at a radio station I was working at in Manchester, NH). She's an absolute sweetheart, and truly genuine. At the time, we bonded over "The X-Files" (she was a BIG fan). Want to hear some of the most straightforward and really odd advice that she gave me (keep in mind how lyrically genius she is, now)? She said, "...Mike, if you want to get over somebody...you have to go and f**k someone else." How about that? I'll never forget it...and that helped with the breakup I was going through!
Man, how much do I LOVE THAT SONG! Passionate, with some wonderful lyrics. Not overdone, but not limp in any way. I generally think country music is the Devil\'s work and avoid it like the plague, so without RP, I probably would have never discovered this song.
I like the country sound of her voice, and I prefer slightly strident to breathy. I would like to hear more of her. SHe sounds a bit like Sheryl Crow, but she is an individual enough to deserve airplay of her own. Country crossover is an interesting subcategory.

This album was produced by Bill Botrell, who just happens to have produced the first few albums by ... Sheryl Crow!

Ditto. This is really nice.
Hah! I thought she was saying \"In the name of Islam!\"
I agree her earlier work is better. She does have some wonderful songs and a killer voice when she really lets loose with it.
I wasn\'t real excited about it the first 3 or 4 times I heard it, and I\'m really starting to dislike it. I give it two cheeks out
not her best work... I will save my opinion until i hear the whole cd. for those of you who never heard her earlier stuff, it is a must hear, especially 'bitter sweet'. she is really an outstanding songwriter.

"Goddess of Jerusalem ? Now there's a thought. Nice anti-patriarchal spin in what could otherwise sound a bit like Christian Radio. Hey but I'm a buddhist who in ecstatic moments has tripped out on Amy Grant Well of course it's "Daughters of Jerusalem" ...so perfectly obvious .....once I read the lyrics. "Goddess of Jerusalem" - Totally wishful thinking I'm sure. Always have thought that the Father of all Patriarchal Oppressions richly deserves some archetypal comeuppance.

very sheryl crow.
Lovely -- great voice, jangling guitars. Thx, Bill!
not bad at all.
