Goodbye to you my trusted friend
We've know eachother since were nine or ten
Together we've climbed hills and trees
Learned of love and ABC's
Skimmed our hearts and skimmed our knees

Goodbye my friend it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
Pretty boys are everywhere
Think of me and I'll be there

Goodbye papa please pray for me
I was the black sheep of the family
You tried to teach me right from wrong
Too much wine and too much song
Wonder how I got along

Goodbye papa it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
Little children everywhere
When you see them I'll be there

Goodbye Michelle my precious one
You gave me love and helped me find the sun
Every time that I was down
You would always come around
Get my feet back on the ground

Goodbye Michelle it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
With the flowers everywhere
Wish that we could both be there

We had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climbed were just seasons out of time
We had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun
But the stars we could reach were just starfish on the beach

I hated the original.  One of my least favorite songs of all time in fact.  Horrible.
{#Frustrated}
It's hard to believe that a remake could be worse than the smarmy, crappy original, but yeah. It sucks even worse.
If there was a zero, or even negative numbers, I would give it.

Bill, I know you like covers of songs, but honestly.  This was pure torture.
Was this a way to get back at listeners who hit the PSD button?

This song, and the original, should only ever be played in the event of an emergency,
to evacuate a building as quickly as possible.  It would work better than a klaxon siren.
Worse song ever you must be joking, you never heard the Birdy Song?
Eeek....first time in many years listening to RP that I have cringed at a song (to be fair it did come up via PSD). Terry Jacks would turn in his grave if he wasn't still alive! Intersting (to me) this was originally intended to be a Beach Boys song.....can you imagine that?
For amusing bubblegum covers, I need to recommend Stiletto Fetish\'s \"I Think I Love You\", too. :)

Ok, ok, though it was a lot easier to sing along with the original!
How mortifying that The Poppy Family hailed from Vancouver. This was one of the reasons I wrote off all Canadian music for about 20 years.
good god man, i was filleting fish and I almost cut my wrists...already been chewed bubble gum
You gotta be a daring, eclectic band to take on the Worst Song Ever Written, so props to the band. There\'s a Jesus and Mary Chain connection here, so that could explain the addiction to sugar. But didn\'t the Legendary Pink Dots cover it too? I liked that version too. Hmm.
Truly, completely dreadful.

Didn't know Bellvue had computers, let alone allowed the inmates to use them! :D Although.. of the three (as Bill has apparently made it a set) this is probably the best.. compared to the Elena Skye "Like a Prayer" tribute .. I'd rather hear this a thousand times than that one more than once... yeck!
What, it wasn\'t bad enough the first time around?
oh NO! This is the first time i\'ve ever given a 1 on RP. ICK ICK. Actually, i *can* imagine that i would give a lower rating to the original ...
come on, admit it. you sang along. you know you did.
not as good as the original, but still nice to hear a tribute version of it... Thanks Bill :)!!
no. for the love of god, no.
distant, ironic singing and music better matches the dark lyrics. Or was the original ironic? hmmm. I could never tolerate the original, but I like this.
better than the original which I consider the pinnacle of horrible folk songs of the 70s
If the sign of a good song is a memorable one, this qualifies, \'cause every time I hear it, I have happy memories of when the original came out. Would prefer the original, actually. On the other hand, I can also sing the tunes to a lot of commercials, so maybe I\'m just strange.
Someone DID send this in...i always got a kick out of this version.
