It all began without warning
On a strange winter's morning
The sky turned red
The vibrations went dead
With these terrible songs on a rainy day
The pressure just started to fall
Your scene doesn't do anything for me
It doesn't do anything at all

Is the music gone?
Is it gone for good
It's only 6 metal strings on a piece of wood
And all these things goin' on in my head
Make it kinda hard to deal
Like seaweed swayin' in the ocean blue
For me, it's got to be real

I don't care anymore
People tell me I should
They're out lookin' for hits
I'd rather lay on the hood of an old car with my girlfriend
And my real friends
Until the end

I'll take you on a trip
Inside my soul
There you'll see
The part that somebody soul
Now can you see this picture that I painted for you
It's of you that you're not used to
But you refuse to don't you?
You're thinkin' too hard
You can't think too hard

I don't care anymore
People tell me I should
They're out lookin' for hits
I'd rather lay on the hood of an old car with my girlfriend
And my real friends
Until the end

It all began without warning
On a strange winter's morning
The sky turned red

Mr. Mays has much more interesting stuff.  This is fine, but very mainstream.  Check out songs such as "The Past" or "Under my Senses" to appreciate his abilities.

This is a great track!
Once again, RP does it again, always cuttin' a groove that keeps me coming back for more...
Thanks

Bitchin groove - gets my foot tapping under the desk every time

Good driving tune. As in, the tune drives, and it's good to blast while at the wheel of a car heeding the speed limit as simply a suggestion.

you nailed it King!

kinda dig that album "art" too

Dewd OMFG! Smuggler's Blues!!!

Don Johnson and Glenn Frey in Miami Vice episode
(traumatic acid-free flashback ensues)

I heard Ray Davis myself....

This is one incredible song!  So full of tasty stuff! Turned friends on to it too and they all agree —
it MOVES...thanks, RP!
Gosh, I love the Wilburys. There's just no way to copy that sound!

{#Dance} I Like this!
My pedantic comment: reminds me of a combination of America and the Traveling Wilburys. S'all I got.
Another song I have never heard before. *reads comments* 250+ people have rated it? Well I must've heard it but it just never penetrated my thick noggin before.

Really like how this sends me back, like something early Eagles, something simple and familiar, something good and solid, like the old '70 Cutlass and '61 Impala I used to drive and listen to music in, music like the kind this hearkens back to...dig it!  Thanks, RP!

from my hometown!  love Matt Mays  :)
Love this one! And it's been a long time since I last heard it here. It has great lines embedded within: "...with my girlfriend, and my real friends."
Canada putting out some good tunes lately. Go Canucks, eh
Could be my theme song. {#Ask} {#Wave}
this is why i listen to RP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they're all lookin' for hits!

Puts me in mind of Poe's song "Hey, pretty",  which could be the Cougar's anthem. Great driving rock number this.

I don't see the similarity at all myself.  A 7

Not bad.. reminds me a bit of orbison / petty etc .. not so much the voice but the music behind it. Love the album cover art.

This song is okay I guess, not amazing. (snip) At least this song sounds good loud.
It grows on you like a spore, mold or fungus. Edited to add: This is a kick-ass drivin' tune, played at top volume while potentially exceeding the speed limit.
Fun song!! Makes me chair dance :) (ok, it\'s more like a wiggle than a dance.)

And baptized by Jeff Lynne, methinks. Pretty good, anyway. That's Matt on vocals and guitar, by the way. If you like this, check out "The Plan" with guest vocals by Kathleen Edwards.

That vampire on the cover is scaring the hell outta me.

This song is okay I guess, not amazing. But I cranked the volume anyway to my headset to drown out the sounds of my coworker blowing his nose as hard as he possibly can... for like a full minute.
Ugh, I hate that. Why can't he go in the loo to do that kind of disgusting stuff?
The song is pretty good, but the album cover is not!
Great Nova Scotian band. Let's here more from this album, please.

This sounds like the band America! Remember Sister Golden Hair?
Yeaaah!!! These are Halifax boys! Come here, drink with us, and listen to these guys!
This does sound like Tom Petty but thats a good thing. I love the art work on the cd!
Very good song, let's wait for more.

i was totally unaware that "drivel" was a put-down. why not just call it "some trite, drivel-laden tripe," and get all of my least favorite RP comments in one place

HA! Exactly! Justin Hayward and the Heartbreakers.

can definitely hear petty & the heartbreakers in that simple riff. good tune.

Definate John Lennon influence here
Pretty full on. more than just a collection of simple repetitive bits, rather a sophisticated interaction between the different elements of the song. and a good deal of energy. And frankly I think it's a pretty fresh take on an obviously ancient theme.

Nice to hear some maritime music on RP. Thanks Bill!
I've seen these guys several times in an opening capacity and they've blown away the (extremely talented) banner acts.
Let's hear more from this band!
Is that Sonny Landreth on guitar?
New band and new song for me. I like it! Too bad the price of the CD on Amazon is over $25!! Too rich for my blood.
Reminds me of Full Moon Fever era Tom Petty/Jeff Lynne.
Reminds me vaguely of Glenn Frey.
A likeable song with a +1 Wah-Wah kicker - Excellent!
Yeah! A little Canadian East Coast music. These guys are fantastic live too!!! Thanks Bill
those canadians... they're great!
