I can hear you rattling your window
I can hear you playing up the pane
Even though you never leave your bedroom anymore
I can hear you all the same
All the same
All the same
All the same
All the same

As hard as I try, you still can't look me in the eye
After all this time, only you know the reason why
Well, they say you're shy and you get caught on the inside
Come on, come out, there's so much light

But there ain't much time

I can hear you crackin' off a windpipe
And the silence last for days
Then I see you coming round again
'Cause nothing ever lasts for every minute of the day
Last the day
Last the day
Last the day
Last the day

As hard as I try, you still can't look me in the eye
After all this time, only you know why
They say you're shy and you get caught on the inside
Come on, come out, there's so much light
But there ain't much time
No, there ain't much time
No, no, there ain't much time

Boy, if you knew the nights I'd stayed up thinking and crying over you
But I sit back and I say, "what can I do?"
Come on, let me in and gimme a clue
But you gotta do what you wanna do

As hard as I try, you still can't look me in the eye
After all this time, after all this time
They say you're shy and you get caught on the inside
Come on, come out, there's so much light
But there ain't much time
Oh no, there ain't much time
No, now there ain't much time

At least it took a thousand spins before you got tired of it- that's quite impressive!

Weird how some songs affect us that way after many listens. This one?  For me it's a sublime, aural groove, I never get tired of it.

Love it!  Great tune.... just great!!!

What is "crackin' off a windpipe"? Does he mean whiffing off a crackpipe?

Windpipe is how we speak.  The next line is about silence.  I think it's his poetic way of saying that he can tell he's getting the silent treatment.
Nice vibe!
I heard the song on RP, liked it so much I bought the album.  This is one of the better songs on the album but it's still a nice album.

What is it about this song that makes me like it more every time I hear it?  The melody?  The french horns at the end certainly are nice to look forward to.

So very true. I can feel my blood pressure drop when I hear the opening chords.

Another gem which I would never have heard without RP.  Thank you thank you thank you.
Great song, thank you RP

This song reminds me of trying to civilize a young, feral cat. Had to go so slowly, giving her time to figure me out and come to me of her own volition. The "silence lasts for days, then I see you coming round again, cause nothing ever lasts for every minute of the day." She spent three weeks hidden in a back room, and then one evening she came around the kitchen door to check me out. The beginning of a beautiful friendship.

I also love cats., I got two 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛.
Your comments moved me to tears, because I can relate to all of this. Thank you very much!

Never heard of Ten Fe before RP. What a piece of masterwork! Thanks to Bill and his team!
Sounds a little bit like a combination of a-ha and The Byrds.
10 points!
In the meantime, I was listening to the whole album. Definitely worth to listen to.
Greetings from Koblenz, Germany

I love the length of this one… beauty eh
what an absolute stellar, total 'Dad Rock" track this has always been.  love this one and it's brutal lyrics as well.
It would be easy to relagate this to background music but just a moment of thoughtful listening reveals such a beautiful song. It would be a shame to miss out a deeper listening.

Same here. We took in a young female with a litter. Let her take over the basememt. She kept hiding the kittens. I'd sit at the top of stairs every evening and talk to her. Suddenly, one day, she came up, let me pet her, and we were buds from there on out.

I won't be able to think of anything else now when I hear this, 'cuz it's on my supersecret, most excellent ride-that-bike- to-nowhere playlist. Good on ya!

Great song, great cover art, great name.  I guess they're OK
Nice stuff.  I likey!
The artist name should be "Ten fe", not "Ten fé", bad spanish
very good
I can see some comments about "french horn" . Listen to the Muttonbirds - french horn galore
Love this band. Another band I'd never have heard of without Radio Paradise.

Good Tune! I never heard of them before. Thank You RP!  PS: I like the french horn!
How does this song rate above a 4?
Weak lyrics, nice but predictable melody Give me Coldplay
Dang I've already rated a 10. Hey Bill, can we get an 11?

Lawd I love this song, but it's almost too evocative of every bleak melancholy holiday one ever had. Every last hope shredded; picking out the shards during Christmas Eve services. Stuff like that.
Following it up with Back on the Chain Gang grinds a little extra salt in long ago wounds thought to be tough old scars.
Bought the CD because of hearing this on RP.
I don't regret it. Nice, mellow stuff.

In Spanish "Fe" would have no accent, in portuguese it does.

What a beautiful song!
Sheer beauty expressed in sound.

Buy this album. Best $15 you will ever spend.
The arrangement and harmonies are impeccable. I love it more each time!
This is simply lovely! Every time I hear it I like it a little more!

Looks like it is up to a hefty 7 and moving toward 8. Well deserved.
More french horn!
Always makes me happy when I hear it come on.

It immediately reminded me of the The Mutton Birds. For me, that's a good thing.
This little sucker plods along in an unobstrusive way, then the outro kicks in.
Horn & guitar take this up another notch.
Not bad, but not deserving more than a 6 here.

Talk about can't explain, I was just now sitting here thinking "I don't really like this kind of music" while at the same time thinking "this is a pretty good song."
I agree with other comments, shades of Fleetwood Mac, War on Drugs, Chris Isaak, many of my favorite artists, but not in anyway derivative. (whatever that means)
I hear a bits of Orbison here.
I am so looking forward to seeing this group in person.
Lovely.
Wonderful song. Thanks Bill and Rebecca. Would never have heard this without you.

Weak lyrics, typical cheese of interpersonal relationships...6
This song is so simple and reminds me of someone when I hear it.

just bumped it up to 7 from 5

I'd agree...heard it a few time before (on RP)...this time it really grabbed me - so an 8 from me to start and next time I'll listen to the lyrics and see if it goes up a notch

Nice song.

Interesting band title.  Spanish speakers would never come up with that name.

Ha!, well, I take it to mean that in spite of whatever the singer does, the other person still can't look em in the eye, and that is the futility of the situation...actually quite brilliant, IMHO...
8 -> 9
great song..
Now a SOLID "9".. Awesome
Interesting! No wait, the other thing -- tedious.

One of a few artists I’ve discovered on RP. Man, I love this song, love how it makes me feel on a quiet winter morning.
The phrasing on this song is special.
Very nice!

I agree, with an eighties vibe to it. Good stuff.
As a past french horn player, that made the song for me right there. But it was interesting to begin with.
wow, don't know what this song is actually referring to, but it resonates with me. Spent 12 years of my life with someone caught up in their own fears and in the end, I think I only made it worse, despite everything.  uff. takes the air right out of me.

Love french horns.  Always reminds me of one of my favorite pieces from childhood "Peter & the Wolf" which had prominent french horns.
