I feel like playing the game tonight
This town gets lonely after midnight
And when animal hunger runs deep
And now I'm never gonna get to sleep

Well some people claim, but I know, I know
The deepest, darkest place to go
You never get out once they let you in
You never get out once they let you in
You'll be nuttin but a club thing

What would you say to be paid to be one of the beautiful?
Such a beautiful face
Such a beautiful girl

And one thing's for sure, one thing's for certain
That if you get behind the velvet curtain
You'll see, there nothing's as sweet as it looks on my TV

You need a cold soul of concrete here
You got a view without pity
You need a cold soul of concrete here
Just like the soul, the soul of the city

(refrain X 2)
What would you say to be paid to be one of the beautiful?
Such a beautiful face
Such a beautiful girl

Beautiful girl

He watches from the corner
He waits for her to stumble
He knows that he's the king
The king of the cardboard jungle
He knows he cannot fight
What appears to enslave her
He's got a hunger
For the sweetest of flavor

Well, don't worry baby now
It won't be long
Once the hunger start to take you in
Before you know it, you will be gone, gone, gone
To be just another club thing

(refrain X 4)
What would you say to be paid to be one of the beautiful?
Such a beautiful face
Such a beautiful girl

Nice little track, ruined by the poor sound quality though. @Bill - are you playing out an MP3 from Yoav's web site? It sounds like a 96kbps audio file, if that's how it sounds on his CD then I'd be very disappointed :-(

Ooh, checking it out on Amazon now, thanks!

Hooray!!  LOVE this song!  {#Hearteyes}  It's been a really long time since I've heard it played on here.  Could we get it back in regular rotation please??  thanks

I was so excited and surprised that Radio Paradise had this song!
I quickly came here to rate it.. only to realize this is where I discovered it a while ago :)

This song is great. That said, when your roommate has it on repeat for a week, you do move on...
I like it a lot.  But it reminds me a little bit of something Flight of the Conchords might do

I saw him live. I remember he performed this song...it totally rocks live!

I thought I was listening to Beck.

the way he uses the "loop thing" is cool
I saw the video of him on you tube

I can see Weird Al just going to town on this song.  Dude even sounds a little big like Weird Al.

Throw it back to the top 40 lake.

Wonderful groove.
this is an amazing song. It's a cynical view of the club scene but so compellingly beautiful.

Usually I hate repetition, but this is so subtle I don't mind it.  Very pleasant.
Gotye done by Metric?
Oh my gosh! I never thought RP would play this...one of my all time favorites recently. {#Whipit}

(Yes I'm the definition of eclectic. I even sometimes listen to...gasp...rap.)

And yes, most definitely check out the music video to this song. It's haunting.

Also one more thing to note, this song was created entirely with a guitar, I read.

My favorite song on RP for the last few months. It'll probably wear off in a while, but I love the groove, sounds, singing, lyrics.

Lots of looping to create his grooves.

fresh and lovely song{#Yes}
Most music videos are a waste of time...
but i thought this one added another dimension

uuuuuuuh, not sure what your idea of 'rap' is, but this song is far from it.

  agreed, but I like it!

Gotta look into this.....charmed & strange oh yeah......
From 7 to 8... and still growing. {#High-five}
I really like this tune, and I usually don't like hiphop or rap songs.

Take care.
I first heard him on CBC's "Radio Q" with Jian Gomeshi.  It turns out that Yoav plays ALL the music on this song with just his guitar!  He uses some sort of tuning thing and then he just plays it differently depending on what he wants it to sound like.  He played this song live, so I know that he can do it!  Very cool indeed... way to go RP!!

It's not really my type...as in, usually, I'd avoid it at all costs.  But it's got a rather nice feel to it.

My housemate plays this song everyday, and WE aren't sick of it yet! sexy sexy love it!!!
Some nice sounds...
How much does this guy wish he was Prince? Bill should play this one right after the next time he plays "When Doves Cry."
The majestic swirlings that this song spins me up upon are unsurpassed.  Amazing vocals, amazing message.  I dare any of you listeners to do better.

I'd love to hear some hip hop on RP. Good hip hop. It appears to be one of the only genres that are completely ignored here.

I agree, and it's a sad, sad, thing. How about some Lyrics Born or Jazz Addix!

I agree - the groove is really entrancing... I always find myself bringing up my browser to see who this is.

The vocals are the only thing that makes this song similar to n.e.r.d.  pharrell has a similar range and moreover, makes original music. yoav not so much.

Interesting.  Like Beck lite.

This doesn't belong on RP. It sounds too close to hip hop for comfort. Bad hip hop. Sounds like something immature college students listen to.

Not bad. Reminds me of Damon Albarn.

Hitting the mute button improves this song (?) 100%

When I got the magazine and listened to this, one of my first thoughts after, "This song is pretty cool!" was that I wanted to upload it to RP!  I should have known they'd have the jump on me, though...

Very groovy tune. Some weird stuff going on with the guitars.
{#Yes}  Toe tapping.

That describes it really well.
I don't think I would normally listen to this, but HERE, it fits right in.

Toe Tapping . The whole time.

In some ways this reminds me of LCD Soundsystem

This doesn't sound like it should be on Radio Paradise. Guess Bill likes to have a Big Mac avec fromage every now and then eh?

a bit on the fromage side
this sounds like a commercial for Bacardi or something. :|
SMOKIN... and the song's pretty sexy too
Waugh! Does Winamp have the right IP address? What am I listening to?

chill.

Great stuff. The more I hear it, the more I like it. Needless to say, without RP, I'd have never heard it in the first place.
I'm having the exact opposite experience. The more I hear it, the less I like it, and I could have never heard it in the first place and been quite happy. Sounds like some kid on a corner playing and screaming at traffic for spare change. 4 and dropping fast.
Definitely like the backbeat of this.
If you ever get a chance to see Yoav live, go. I saw him twice in Vancouver. It is amazing to watch him and his guitar create such compelling layers of sound. If you can, get close enough to watch him work the sample pedals with his bare feet.
Wow. Nice tune. Quirky. Yummy. First I've heard of it. Only on RP, of course.
Great stuff. The more I hear it, the more I like it. Needless to say, without RP, I'd have never heard it in the first place.
Cool tune. Reminds me of Arrested Development- a little bit in the groove, a bit in the lead singer sounding like Speech.
some nice guitar percussion there!
