Beat's so lonely
I bet it's lonely at the top
She hesitates
But the beat will never stop

Wanting him only
But the people never see
Her heart burning
That's the secret that she keeps

Come on baby
You know there's something missing
Don't find nothing
No more coincidences

Pretty baby
Look in his eyes and you will see
Things will happen
But only if they're meant to be

Beat's so lonely
I bet it's lonely at the top
So lonely at the top
So lonely

She said
Beat's so lonely
If you let it be that way
She can't tell the difference anyway

She thinks hold me
But she's scared to say
She paid dearly for the answers of her days
Answers of her
Answers of her days

Beat's so lonely
As she waits so patiently
Her heart's yearning
How she'd love him to see

He's not hurting
But he wouldn't mind to be
She still sees him
She sees him interestingly

Come on baby
You know there's something missing
Don't find nothing
No more coincidences

Pretty baby
Before you give him all you got
Got to come closer
You got to give it one more shot

Beat's so lonely
I bet she's lonely at the top
So lonely at the top
So lonely

She said
Beat's so lonely
If you let it be that way
She can't tell the difference anyway

She thinks hold me

Pure fun mid 80's guitar pop. Thanks for the flashback.
Definitely check out Arc Angels  - really good blues rock - here is their debut on Letterman - Note how Letterman's musicians (who are really good) sit this on out and play tambourine - Respect for the rhythm section!
At this time I lessoned Charlie and Billy  Good energy man
He and Doyle Bramhall ll played together in the Arc Angels and still get together once in a while. They play off each other quite well and are worth a listen.
David Bowie and Billy Idol's love child.
I believe he is in Bob Dylan's touring band now.

You should hear "Under the Wishing Tree" or "Cruel and Gentle Things" - two of his most recent works. Also, he did a stint with the best of Stevie Ray Vaughn's band - they were called Arc Angels, and there are some excellent songs on it.  I love this song once in awhile, but his newer work is ever-so-much better....

Bringing this up for those who don't bother to read prior comments. Yes, this song was featured in a John Hughes movie called "Some Kind of Wonderful" with Eric Stoltz, Lea Thompson and Mary Stuart Masterson. Get over it. Mr. Sexton has eclipsed that phase of his life.  So -  pull yourselves out of the 80's and get current.

Thank you.

WONDERS OF THE WORLD WITH A PEPPY BEAT  {#Hearteyes}

Have I commented on this song before? Have I mentioned that I'm 15 again?
I started to post something about Mr. Sexton's current work, but I don't have the energy.  "Under the Wishing Tree." "Cruel and Gentle Things."  Find them yourselves.

Wow!  Right there with ya'.  Long time gone from the memory bank.

This guy was going to be the next great young rocker in the mid-80's.  But the MCA hype machine never quite got him out of the starting blocks.

I'm sure he wishes he could have the chance to re-record that album without the marketing department making all the decisions. I remember the hype, "16-year-old Austin phenom..." and everyone expected something rootsy.

Nostalgia aside, this is some crap.

is it just me or is there something very bowie like about his voice?  Bad for a bowie song, and he has made some howlers....

This song screams the 80's.  Sure I have heard it before, but don't remember it...

Man, this just HAD to have been used in some bad mid-80's crap movie. I envision a car being driven down some city street at night with a female in the passenger seat and outstretched arms.

BLECH!!!!

I am getting the same awful visual.
My god there is even the screaming guitar in the end, make it end...this is awful.

I have that Arc Angels CD too. Did you ever upload anything? Maybe I'll try Sent By Angels or something.

I've only submitted "Cruel and Gentle Things" - and it's still in review, after six months. Guh.  My software program doesn't work anymore, so I can't upload music for consideration.  Pleasepleaseplease submit ANYTHING by them.  Oh, and I just found this:

Reunion of Arc Angels

Saw this guy in 1986 solo, saw him againin 2008 as backup for Bob Dylan. Really good either time.

I always loved that guitar.

Ooooo - Charlie Sexton!  I love this song - it always makes me think of the scene in "Some Kind of Wonderful" where Elias Koteas intimidates the slimy rich kid and crashes his party.

 Now, play "Cruel and Gentle Things" so people can see what a range this guy has.  He was in a band called "Arc Angels" with a few of Stevie Ray Vaughn's bandmates - talk about studying at the feet of the master! If I can find the CD and convert it, I'll upload a few songs for review. Meanwhile, his CDs "Under the Wishing Tree" and "Cruel and Gentle Things" are both worth the listen.{#Sunny}

"Impressed" is still one of my favorite songs... That would have been my choice off this album, but this'll do...

Surely the love child of Billy Idol and Bruce Springsteen, with quiff from Elvis. Surprisingly fun. 8 from the toe-tappin' Nottingham jury.

His music very much reminds me of old "Miami Vice" soundtracks so you comment about mid-80's is on but the rest of it is totally off.  So much of what today is disdained was new and fresh back then and made many careers such as Phil Collins who had soundtracks on Miami Vice.

Thanks for that nugget of info, Jan Hammer. By correlating this with Phil Collins' solo material, you've just backed up my opinion that this is lousy. You must also think "Sussudio" is a good song. Finally, artists don't have "soundtracks." The music that is used in a movie makes up that movie's soundtrack.

Man, I so totally uploaded this YEARS ago and it got rejected. Who uploaded this and got it accepted?

Well, whoever you are, THANK YOU.

Yes, Thanks!
I loved this album, back in that era – although this wasn't even the strongest track on it.

And worked with both Bowie and Dylan.

Boring... and I usually like 80's stuff.  But this really doesnt bring anything new to the table at all.

That's some real cheezzy 80's rock, Phew!
A wannabies wannabe,sounds like mashed, stewed,deepfried potato sallad. #3
The guy was 16 when he did this? Wow.

Didn't he join Bowie on the "Glass Spider" video to perform "White Light White Heat"? I think that's the only time I heard Mr. Sexton, if this is him.... Fun song!
Great to hear again!  As soon as it came on I thought, "this reminds me of...it is".
Man, this just HAD to have been used in some bad mid-80's crap movie. I envision a car being driven down some city street at night with a female in the passenger seat and outstretched arms.

"Bruce?"
My thought exactly! I'll have to go and find more to listen to..

No pretty close though... ITSsssssssss. ''Proffessor Gumby''
It's great to hear something from the 80s that isn't the same recycled crap, or from the tired old canon. This was just a really good power pop song of the time.

I always thought he looked like the lost Dillon brother.
ha!  man, i haven't heard this in years.  I used to love it, but now it sounds so overproduced and silly.{#Tongue}

Still, Charlie is an amazing musician, and being from Austin, I'll stand up for him any day! {#Cowboy}
Saw him play live with Dylan in 2001. Great stuff.
Wow.  Haven't heard this outside my own collection in many, many years.  Nice tune!
Bruce?
