5603 points and 12km out. However the signs meant I could figure out it was Mexico. Sheer blind luck got me a close guess on actual location once I knew the country.

much better than me. First game was a disaster, second game I got 8325 points. I think I only landed in the right country once (Sweden).

That's how I get scores of 28 out of 6479 ;-) With that tight limit I'm happy if I get over 10000. If I don't allow myself to zoom in on the "target" map, 10000 is really difficult. But the game goes a lot faster What really sucks is when you get on some Trans-Australian dirt road that's 2000 miles long with no intersections, signs, nuthin' for a hundred miles... Then you get the one that plunks you down in front of a sign that says "Welcome to Ketchikan" ... so then the only problem is remembering where Ketchikan is Those endless Aussie roads are the worst! I've spent 10 min just waiting to see a car so I can confirm what side they're driving on. No road signs, nothing. Haven't tried the "no moving" rule. That'd be a challenge! I'll try that on my iPad — moving there sux anyway.

Try to beat 8503. This is my score with no zooming or moving on the map; no zooming in on the target map. Spinning around in street view, yeah.

GeoGuessr • Let's Explore the World!Basically, all you have to do is look around the area where you're set down in Google Street View, then click on the inset map to tell it where you think you are. This is quick and easy and sometimes surprising how accurate —and how horribly wrong*— you can be with so little information. Or you can use the Street View to drive around a little (or a lot) and look for more clues, and open another window to Google the clues until you're absolutely sure you know where you are! Then go find that spot on the inset map and click! Then you can challenge others to beat your score if you want. Here's one I just completed. It was hard. I got 32392 out of a possible 32395. Note: Max points on one round (out of 5) is 6479. *Lowest I've gotten is 28 (Lappland vs New Zealand. They really do look similar ) Time suck, indeed. I've been playing without a second tab to Google stuff in — highest I've gotten was a bit over 23,000 — but I've decided I'm ready to modify that self-imposed rule.
