There is nothing wrong with funding research or fast-tracking a vaccine to stop a pandemic. CureVac has some deep pockets behind it: Dietmar Hopp (SAP founder) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to name just two. I doubt that a lack of funding is the issue. Which then leaves the question of why would the US administration want to invest in the firm, either as equity or government grant or whatever. The whiff of wanting control of some kind in return for big dollars still hangs over the episode if you ask me. (and this is corroborated by the reaction of the German government, who would not want to ruffle feathers unnecessarily).

Edit: To give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they just wanted to secure a license, again that would be totally bona fide.

The Breitbart article was accurate in every way I can check. The original Welt am Sonntag story seems to have been a hoax. All the major news organizations that propagated it have since edited their stories. The company at the center of the kerfuffle claims no such offer was made. This appears to be sloppy journalism (coupled with TDS) on a global scale.

Yes, Breitbart has a right-wing bias. The Guardian (and NYT, and too many others to mention) have a left-wing bias. That doesn't make any of them wrong in any particular instance, just as KarmaKarma's obnoxiousness doesn't make him(?) wrong and your snide condescension doesn't make you wrong.

You know we all are not as portrayed on tv.  Weapons and ammo are just basics for some and infatuations for others.  Personally I put weapons and ammo on the lower end of necessities, most of us are just normal people who think ahead, that's it.  If it gets to the point to where I am in firefights with people or the government well I really don't even want to live in a world like that.   Some people just like to be prepared and now the whole world is seeing why.  Most preppers are decent people and actually support the notion that the more of us that are  preparing makes the need for weapons and ammo go down and that is a world we can all aspire to.

Just got a call from my oral surgeon who cancelled my pre-torture meeting. They are locked down
for a month. Nor I have to extend my liquid diet for at least another  month and just because I don't
has no teeth left doesn't mean they don't hurt something awful. I'm eating better with nothing but smoothies
anyway - bananas, berries, ground flax seeds beet powder, greens powder. It's a healthy filling meal.
I do miss real food sometimes though. 

You know who's not hoarding TP, disinfectants or food? People who rely on paltry amounts of food stamps are who.
They say we should have 2 weeks worth of supplies on hand - but that's all the gubment gives us to live on every month.

The Italian mortality rate is so much higher because the Italians are testing a small subset, whilst in S. Korea 30% of all cases are found in 20-29 year olds...who usually show slight to no signs of infection.  

The issues are real, but the statistics are generally apples and oranges from country to country.
