No worries - you won't have to care what Republicans or conservatives think any longer.  Pelosi and the Dems are hell-bent on making future elections Republican-proof.  Nice election system you have there.  Would be a shame if anything happened to it.

And Biden still handily won, against all odds.  Amazing.

Be careful what you wish for.

G, you need to stop watching Fox News or the like and understand that their spin is not reality here...What we have here is 70 some odd million people who voted for a misogynistic, racist, crook to lead this nation for 4 more years in order to hold on to their white privilege. There is no doubt the results of this election were legitimate as proven over and over by the courts.  I fear your racist bent will not let you see the forest for the trees, my friend. Those 70 some odd million people disagree with you.  As do I, along with your friend G too.

70 some odd million people were full of hope & optimism during Trump's term.  They've now experienced hope & optimism at levels not much seen in their lifetimes.  That memory won't be going away anytime soon.

70 some odd million people were capable of overlooking some unlikeable personality traits of Trump, in the cause of better times & a stronger country for all.

Here, you make the same tired old racist accusation remarks that every low-IQ liberal does, and fail to look at the reality in Trump's term.  It is the left that is divisive.  It's their way or the highway. Disagree with a leftist and be banned, cancelled & doxxed!  The left created cancel culture and wokeness.   Yesterday, they're cancelling Gina Carano, burning Dr. Seuss books, and removing gender from Mr. Potato.  Today, they're trying to ban Pepe Le Pew and Thomas Sowell.  It won't stop, because we've let them have their early victories without any pushback.  They'll come us  all one day.

The left does not understand that the MSM is a willing participant in amplifying the lies and slander of the leftist politicians.  Hundreds of examples abound, but the left will not listen - they continue to believe the lies and hoaxes continuously perpetrated upon them.

It is you and yours that are so bitter and hate filled.  You won't listen to me, of course.  And if your friend chooses to tell you the same, what then?  Get new friends?  Those who won't challenge your beliefs?  That's one way out.

Because to you, I am nothing but a troll, it should also come as no surprise that I happen to completely agree with your friend's take on the last number of years.

Cheers.

🤣 So now you're a gator? 🤣

Must be rather odd for you to witness a president who is able to govern and lead vs one that wasn't.

Nah, mate - we don't have 'gators here.
Only crocodiles......

You know I'm just ragging y'all........

How long has it been since Hidin' Biden went unassisted before the media corps, without someone to wipe his drool and remind him who he is and what he's supposed to be doing?
There's a counter somewhere onine but I can't find it anymore. Probably been blocked or shut down by the tech oligarchs so as not to put undue pressure on the old guy.
You know how he needs his sleep.
And his afternoon nap before the Gerbers and bib come out........
And his early bedtime.

This is your leader leading?

Up to the pressures of the job, is he?

He's still the most preposterous illegitimate Bossman ever.

And I guess that's a nope on the stimmies, then. Thought so.....

Nice to banter with ya, Veev....

Oh, forgive my ignorance on your background. Are you not from this country then? Does the "mate" reference mean that perhaps you are an Aussie or New Zealander? If so, maybe best then to focus on what's happening in your country then as you have no real skin in the game regarding ours and sound rather foolish doing so.

Neither Aussie nor Kiwi (no crocs in NZ, not even a gnarly lightly toxic spider down there).
No, I am the worst of the worst according to the Identity Politics scale of wholesomeness.
Not only am I a straight male, but I am a straight white male.
Not only a mid-50's straight white male, but a mid-50's South African straight white male.

It's true that when I was nibbling on the the teat of Identity Politics and cultural Marxism, the horrors of my condition made me depressed and almost suicidal.
I was literally standing with a rope in my hand trying to choose a substantial roof beam, but being responsible for others made me drop the rope and get to the bottom of why I felt so bad.
An internal struggle session ensued, that went on for months.

I realised that I could give everything away and live in sack-cloth and eat ashes amongst the impoverished for ever, and give away everything good that ever came my way and devote every waking minute to trying to redeem myself, and it still wouldn't change anything.

I would still be a South African mid-50's straight white male, which was something I had neither asked for nor chosen.
I also realised that it was actually OK to be a mid-50's South African straight white male.
There being nothing I could do to redeem myself I decided to rather look for the good in my situation, and examined what role news media, social media and other online activities had in becoming so depressed.
They were significant.

The entire world has some skin in the game regarding what happens in the USA.

Further to your other point regarding people outside the USA commenting on USA internal issues, I would venture to point out for instance, that there is a Dutchman living in Canada I believe, who seems to not fall under that exclusion. I would further venture to point out that that person has possibly done more than anyone to turn this once friendly and mutually supportive on-line community into an unfriendly and unwelcoming space for anyone with views opposing his and yours, so I think you might reconsider that statement about people outside the USA and their input. There are and have been others I am sure, but they don't come to mind immediately. I think what your point leads to is that as long as they post comments that agree with your view it's ok, anyone else shouldn't bother. I also notice that many people have left this community.

I am not picking at scabs, I'm just having a little fun at your expense, mate.
I still have people I call friends in this community, though they may not see me in the same way anymore, and I worry about them.

Where your country is now, as far as where the political power now lies, is in some ways where we were about 20 years ago.
It doesn't end well.

That's my only concern.
The USA is a beacon for freedom and liberty for millions around the world, and there are many many more good things about the USA than there are bad.

I think that, as someone else has pointed out, you in the USA have all had it so good for so long, relatively speaking , that you have lost sight of what you have and take a lot for granted.
Perhaps it is normal.

It's  a little like when a fortune is made by an enterprising and brave person, and the next generation does a little to maintain and grow that fortune but not a whole lot, and the generation after that comes along and takes everything for granted and ends up squandering the family fortune on cocaine and hookers.

Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone.....?

Have a grand weekend, everyone!

Peace and blessings to all.

Ok, well thanks for giving me insight into your background. All that teat nibbling and stuff...

In your comments you said: I am not picking at scabs, I'm just having a little fun at your expense, mate.

The natural follow-up question on my side would be... why? to what end? To entertain yourself at our expense at a time where our political emotions run high? Does it stem from some deep-seated jealousy that we Americans have had it good for so long that our current adversity is in some way appealing to you? "It's about time America got a spanking!" Sorry but you don't have any skin in this game if your game is to inflame and just stir up sh*t for sh*ts sake. Do you really care what our current stimulus package is and -if so- how does it impact you? Please don't hand me the "it will kick-start our economy and by default improve the world economy." It is designed to just try and keep individual's heads above water right now.

You state: Where your country is now, as far as where the political power now lies, is in some ways where we were about 20 years ago.  I would like to understand more about what you see as the parallels between the two. More importantly though is that (if we can agree) that the Trump administration is directly responsible for our significant decline in our "world standing" then why would you seem to be anti-Biden who has decided that America would rejoin the Paris Climate accord and rejoin WHO and has stated that he is looking to repair our relationships with our allies? Where is your anti-Biden angle coming from?

Seems to me that you are trying to convince me that you are not "picking at scabs" when that is exactly what you are doing and you aren't exactly coming clean on that point. Scabs are what we Americans have aplenty at this point having gone through a brutal administration capped off with a mob insurrection.

A nice response, thank you for it, and worth the time I have put into thinking about it since the reading of it.

I think the scabs I'm picking at are probably my own, a result of the blistering blanket condemnation of Trump and his followers that began within minutes of him winning in 2016, here as well as elsewhere.

Trump is the legitimate candidate of millions of, not only Americans, but people all over the globe. A while ago I wrote somewhere here that I would love to have had Trump or someone like him as our own president here in my country. The response was pretty scathing, and rather disproportionate. And upsetting to me at the time.

As you have now experienced to a small degree, it isn't fun to have your candidate, legitimately declared the victor (according to your own data and metrics) denigrated and belittled by an immediate and constant beat-down, though it may be fun for those issuing the beat-downs, perhaps feeling that they were 'winning' at the internet.
I don't know why anyone would want to 'de-legitimise' the candidate of 60-million-or-thereabouts people.

I do know why I made my intial comments about Hidin' Biden etc...to open an avenue to write this. So thank you for that.
Calling Trump a nazi, Hitler, Grifter-in-Chief etc etc etc has caused the divide you infer.
He was the legitimate candidate of some 70-something-million-or-thereabouts people this time, and an even larger number of people around the globe.

How come it's so great and easy to apply labels like Hitler, or nazi to someone so lightly and  just in passing? Label millions of people in the same way?
It's a horrendous label and not to be tossed around, surely, if you have any understanding of Hitler and Nazis.

I believe the division in American politics that your refer to probably began or if not began, then really gathered itself a proper head of steam, not because of Trump and his supporters, but because of his detractors, here and everywhere else. It's a bit like I'm saying 'it's your fault', though that's not what I am saying, really.

There's a meme going around a bit like this....

CNN: Yay! Trump is gone! Peace at last!
CNN: ...so much peace.
CNN: ....blessed peace, and so much of it!....
CNN:
CNN:
CNN:
CNN:
CNN: I wonder what Trump is doing?
CNN: Ya! Where's Trump? What's he doing?

Maybe that's what I mean by 'It's your fault'.

Biden won't be able to 'unify' anything until the questions around election integrity are dealt with to the satisfaction of the Trump followers, or let's call them the America First movement.
It is a wound....That. Will. Not. Heal.....ever.... by the simple ignoring of it or the application of some sort of 'too late doesn't matter now, there's no evidence, courts have denied it the time of day, you've been played' sticking plaster.

It needs to be lanced, drained, the cause determined, and properly examined and treated. Anything less will serve no purpose and no unity will result. The would will fester and grow in severity.

And despite a respectable wait after his 'victory' to see what he does, the beat-downs on Biden will pick up that same head of steam until....."hey, Biden/Harris Impeachment time!".
Or something like that.

Trump's 2016 victory was declared illegitimate, questioned and objected to in Congress, as is allowed, and the impeachment began about 15 minutes after he won.
A long tirade of Russian collusion etc was propagated everywhere, including here, and Trump supporters were basically run out of RPTown, even after the collusion story was pretty much proved to be false.

Post 2020 election, anyone with questions regarding the 2020 election integrity was again, delivered with standard-issue beat-downs, denials, told they were being played, and sent to purgatory.
And even now I would venture to say that any pro-America First comment made here would get the same treatment.
They do.

But as you might note, it's not cool to be on the other side of anything like that.

Maybe I am appealing for a truce of some kind?

Regarding skin in the game in American politics.....I will shortly have some real skin in the game.

My 17 year old son has, since he was maybe 7 or 8, been captivated by the idea of America and whatever he perceives to be the American Dream.
America and aviation.
Aviation and being in the Air Force. As a 6 year old he was asking me to conduct inspections of his room and 'kit' on Saturday mornings. He has had a bent for the military forever. It makes sense; I have 4 sons; at least one of them would want to choose soldiering as a career.

Because of the colour of his skin, and irrespective of how much money I throw at him learning to fly, how much work he puts into getting terrific results at school, how much aptitude and talent and skill he has as an aviator - there is nothing here for him.
He will never be accepted into our own Air Force, our own local airlines - because he is a white African like his father, his grandfather, his great-grandfather.

He has won a scholarship to an aviation academy in the USA, and he is heading to a State near you, most likely in April, through the front door as a legal immigrant on a scholarship, and after graduating high school and the aviation academy, he wants to join the US Air Force, and live the rest of his life in the USA, as an American.
I don't necessarily want him to, but would rather he come with me to Western Europe, but I will neither discourage him nor stand in his way.
There really is nothing here for him, now or in the future, and he is his own man.
His older brothers?
31 years old, talented IT-professional, now an Australian citizen and just bought a house there.
24 years old, super talented and degreed developer, resident in the Netherlands and buying a home there.

Nothing here for them because........identity politics and reverse apartheid.

So, there's my little bit of skin in US politics.

I certainly don't want to see the US get a spanking. I want the US to be strong, rich, powerful, prosperous....and above all, United. The world needs America as exactly that.

Regarding the stimmies - I haven't had an income from my main business since November of 2019, though I have earned a small and growing stream through what was a hobby and is now largely my main source of income - watchmaking.
Being a white African I was obviously denied access to any support from the government.

So I know precisely the purpose of the stimmies and could have used some myself over the last 12 months. I am not making fun of people who have been keenly anticipating their arrival. I know their desperation.
I was making fun of the reality of the wait during sham impeachment etc against the promises made before election etc, and of the ridiculous pork in the bill. It's not Covid relief, its payoffs for pals with a smidgin of cash for hurting, desperate citizens.
I think you are being played.

I disagree that Trump is the reason for the 'decline of the US in world standing', and think he may well have reversed somewhat the decline already happening - by standing up to China.
I disagree that being part of the Paris Climate accord is worth anything at all - not while China is building more coal-fired power stations each year than already exist in Europe and so on; and getting a pass on all of their climate and human rights transgressions. Cultural differences?! RIght....!
I disagree that the WHO is worth anything, certainly not what it costs you, when again, China gets a pass on everything 'Rona-virus related, pays less, and dictates terms etc.

Trump called these organisations out on these issues, and more people than you realise, all around the world, agree with him and respect him for it.

My anti-Biden stance comes from
a) that he is the most preposterous candidate in my lifetime, sadly cognitively and perhaps physically challenged and clearly not up to the job, and I verge on thinking that what is being done to him is a form of abuse, and have a niggling thought that those who voted for him are in a small way, complicit, albeit unwillingly.
b) That he is severely compromised and corrupted by China and others.
c) that he is just another version of the same Unaparty swamp-creature you've had running the show for a long time, with the exception of Trump.
d) that he is the opening act for another agenda which should have been honestly presented from the start.
e) that I have seen enough and read enough to have my own serious questions about the integrity of the 2020 election, enough to make me believe he is illegitimate and his administration not an administration but a regime.
f) It took a pre-planned, false-flag event that you call a mob insurrection, to get him into the white house.

See how far apart we are?

Yet, I'd like for us to get along and at least be friendly with each other?
I have nothing against you and would appreciate the chance to look you in the eye and shake hands and find what we have in common with each other.

Why is that so hard to accomplish here?

A veritable wall of text........sorry, mate.
The parallels between where you are and where we were have been laid out in a brief, big-picture way in another thread somewhere.

Have a grand weekend!

Peace all.

Big pro-Biden rally happening in Juarez on the Southern border I believe....the biggest Biden rally in more than 2 years. Bigger than any that happened during the campaign. It's yuuuuge. You should check it out.

I think it's important to understand how the world views the actions of the US.  If nothing else, we owe it to our grandparents and great-grandparents to not squander what they built, and what we as Americans have benefited from the past 75 years.  We're not perfect, but the standard of living in the US since WWII is amazingly high.  We became the leader of the world, and can't just decide we don't want the job anymore.

As for comments here...Jiggs, KK, and Ohmsman are pointless propaganda.  They will be plugging crap on to this page for years (thanks Kurt).  Kurt may be delusional about his politics (

Yes, on that point we agree and there is valid distinction between entertaining dialog from someone who is legitimately expressing opinions (however diametrically we may be opposed to them) vs those who are just trying to push buttons.

I quite agree with rgio that Americans should be receptive to the opinions of informed foreigners about our politics. We are members in a global community and cannot succeed if we don't understand and cooperate with other countries.

As for RP members like KK and Ohmsen: who's wasting their time and money by supporting these shills? They've done a remarkably poor job of trying to persuade people to change their minds. I suspect that most of us have held to their opinions more strongly when faced with KK/Ohmsen's nonsense.

I beg to differ. The whole world has a stake in what happens in the US. Unfortunately the US has managed to release trumpism into the wild and infect susceptible people with pre-existing conditions around the world.

Trump neither created nor perfected populism.   Trump showed the world how stupid people can be, even in America, and for that, other countries should be thanking us.

Of Note: you can't have a thread with the work "Lies" in it that Trump doesn't eventually dominate.

If so, maybe best then to focus on what's happening in your country then as you have no real skin in the game regarding ours and sound rather foolish doing so.

I beg to differ. The whole world has a stake in what happens in the US. Unfortunately the US has managed to release trumpism into the wild and infect susceptible people with pre-existing conditions around the world.

Anyone here received their $2k stimmies yet?

Wasn't that the deal?

Or are the $2k stimmies part of the 6% of actual  Covid relief in the $1.9Trillion Swamp relief Porky Pet Project relief package?

Gotta feed 'em Swamp 'gators - they've been starving for the past 4 years. Feed them or they'll bite ya!
