It's the same kind of story
That seems to come down from long ago
Two friends having coffee together
When something flies by their window
It might be out on that lawn
Which is wide, at least half of a playing field
Because there's no explaining what your imagination
Can make you see and feel

Seems like a dream
(They) got me hypnotized

Now it's not a meaningless question
To ask if they've been and gone
I remember a talk about North
Carolina and a strange, strange pond
You see the sides were like glass
In the thick of a forest without a road
And if any man's hand ever made that land
Then I think it would've showed

Seems like a dream
(They) got me hypnotized

They say there's a place down in Mexico
Where a man can fly over mountains and hills
And he don't need an airplane or some kind of engine
And he never will
Now you know it's a meaningless question
To ask if those stories are right
'Cause what matters most if the feeling
You get when you're hypnotized

Seems like a dream
(They) got me hypnotized

I admit Christine McVie Had me hypnotized since the sixties.
She was "Perfect"

And if I do say so myself...it's Christine"s vocals that make this song.
I can never forget how this used to Space/Time Warp my friends and I. A trippy time to be alive; shag carpet rec rooms, bean-bag chairs, LavaLites, 1st weed
Such an incredible song. So defining of a specific time in my life. Gorgeous.
GREAT TUNE!!   This is my favorite Fleetwood Mac tune.  Thanx RP!
I remember way back in the day hearing the drum intro and thinking it was Eagles "Heartache Tonight".  Of course it's not quite the same.
This is my favorite Fleetwood Mac song that I didn't know was a Fleetwood Mac song until I heard it here, and read all about it.  With Bob Welch ! I learned that too.

I Agree!! Totally!!
I remember this was on the radio the night my boss at AES Data offered me a ride home in Winter of 79 or 80. Good old Neil B. Great tune.
Definitely some strange ponds in North Carolina...
EZ 10!
Well...I saw him with the band "Paris"...way back when.

I think they opened for Nektar.

Yikes.

I know the Pointer Sisters version. Until today I didn't knew, that this song is from Fleetwood Mac.
AHHH...such a great song. I have this dubbed onto a cassette and was my only pre Buckingham/Nicks exposure at the time. Need to add this to my collection, again for the first time.

Thanks for keeping these gems alive, RP has introduced me to their back catalog and I am enriched muscially. As a poster below noted, once FM added Buckingham/Nicks to the line up, radio forgot about all these albums...shame.

And this is a 10.  Maybe my favorite Mac song of all of them.

Possibly a reference to the trailer park in the Trailer Park Boys tv series, a Canadian show based in Nova Scotia. Check out a few of the early shows in the series and this will make sense.
Great song btw.
To segue into Everybody Wants To Rule The World.

I've wondered if that lyric is a reference to Carlos Castañeda's The Teachings of  Don Juan.

GREAT!!! ICONIC!!!  I haven't heard this in a long time! Thanx RP!
Have not heard this in forever. It was my introduction to Bob Welch FM. This was as far back I went in the pre-LB/SN FM at that time. I should have this on some tape format I recorded in the late 70's.

I think there's a Bob Welch album in that medium somewhere, too.

So smooth and jazzy.
Haunting tune. And the line about the Mexican flying over mountains and hills - just so spooky!

Absolutely modern. It doesn't seem written in 1973.
I always loved this song.  For about 40 years, I never knew who the artist was....  Then to find out it was FM!  I would have never guessed.  I was never exposed to their earlier stuff.  A few binge listens later, and I have since become a big fan of that particular phase of FM!  And at the same time, finding other classics that I'd heard before, but never knew was FM...

Years ago a co-worker commented that he’d seen a concert video of Fleetwood Mac. He said it was great because they were playing a lot of their old stuff. I immediately thought of ‘Oh Well’, ‘Hypnotized and ‘Black Magic Woman”. He was talking about songs from ‘Rumours’. That’s when I first realized I was getting old.

Wow! That's right.
I remember when I first bought my truck. My wife and I were dating. We would park above Palm Desert on an off road trail which is now the famous "Bump and Grind" hiking trail. We would listen to this on 8 track in the dark looking at the lights below.
We're still together... and still have my truck. And I still listen to this album.
Not on 8 track though.
Pre nicks and buckingham had some gems and this is one if them, and gave it a nine

First time to hear. What a cool sound. I would never had said that was Fleetwood Mac.

Yeah, I prefer non-trampy sluts first, then non-slutty tramps. Trampy sluts are definitely #3.

Maybe it's a Brit thing. Good tune in any event. RIP Bob and Wendy.

Good call. I've always pronounced it "hypmotized" but have spelled it hypnotized (and I'm not British). Never noticed that before.
Sounded perfect on FM radio back in 1973, and still sounds great. Spooky and cool with that plaintive chatty guitar; and the bass and drums in unison.
And yet again radio paradise rescues my tattered wandering soul.

Me too. I was thrilled when my daughter told me she was Fleetwood Mac fan , but then I realized she was a post-Heroes Are Hard to Find fan. Which is all good, but I think the cream is mostly in the 'before' times.
Mick Fleetwood's drumming is always bang on, even with all the different styles of the songwriters in FM, love this, never heard it before
An easy song to love. Almost hypnotic.
I first heard FM in college, after Fleetwood Mac came out in '75. Liked it a lot, and thought, "I wonder what else they've done?" Picked up this, Bare Trees, and Kiln House. What a surprise. Awesome in a different way, but still unexpected.

It's hard to compare FM pre- and post-Buckingham/Nicks, so I won't go down that rabbit hole. Chacun a son gout.

RIP Bob Welch.

Bob walked that thin line between stupid and clever. Songs like this: genius. His tin foil hat conspiracy stuff: flaky.

The first song I ever got from iTunes.

{#Fever} great version of the yardbirds for your love on this as well
RIP Bob...
I love this song...so creative when you think about it...something only a very talented band like Fleetwood Mac could produce.

I remember recording this off of the radio on my Teac Cassette deck around 1975. Lots of time rewinding and re-playing:)
For some strange reason, this song has been going through my head today. Thank you, Bill and Rebecca! I haven't heard this for years....

From Wiki:
On June 7, 2012, at the age of 66, Welch committed suicide in his Nashville home at around 12:15 p.m. He was found by his wife, Wendy, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest; a nine-page suicide note and love letter had been written to Wendy.
According to her, Welch had undergone spinal surgery three months earlier, but doctors told him that he would not fully recover.
He was in serious pain and he did not want his wife to have to care for an invalid.

Thanks Bill reading Mick Fleetwood's autobiography he gets into this period of the bands history, quite interesting as this added a new sound to them, thanks for making RP always interesting.
This one isn't on Spotify. Therefore I am always thrilled to hear it on RP.

How well I can recall a journey made across the frozen Great Plains in a blizzard around Thanksgiving of '92, in the steady old smoothly purring '61 Impala; the special brownies were kicking in, the ex- who was then a new and mostly good wife was installed next to me calmly embroidering an exquisite lace tablecloth for my mother's coming birthday, and when this number came on, she said, "who is singing?" and I told her and she said that they were known in Mexico but not so much for this earlier stuff which she said that she really liked and I had to agree it was absolutely fabulous and was glad I'd known it when it broke. The ice flying by underneath us was slippery but navigable in The Long Iron Beast, and when they closed I-70 we drove on up to I-80 and with the help of such amazing music as this — we were well hypnotized as this album played through at least twice — made our way all the way over and then down to KC as planned. 17 hours later, on arrival, my eyes felt like someone had taken them out and rolled them across a machine-shop floor and my shoulders were tied in knots, but a long sleep put me right and ready to Feast like a Chieftain. Some of those people, things, and connections live on only in memories, but that's the way it is. RIP, Bob Welch, and Thanks!

Great writing coloradojohn!    great song   : )

Indeed.  Such magic.  Makes me float.  He was not included when Fleetwood Mac was inducted into the Music Hall of Fame.  Has he ever been included?  I see a petition was started out there but from my research don't see that he has actually been inducted.  That is a tragic "oversight".
