I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
I don't care 'cause I'm not there
And I don't care if I'm here tomorrow
Again and again I've taken too much
Of the things that cost you too much

CHORUS
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun

When I was a very small boy
Very small boys talked to me
Now that we've grown up together
They're afraid of what they see
That's the price that we all pay
Our valued destiny comes to nothing
I can't tell you where we're going
I guess there's just no way of knowing

CHORUS

I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
The chances are we've gone too far
You took my time, and you took my money
Now, I fear you've left me standing
In a world that's so demanding

CHORUS
CHORUS

Morning sun
Morning sun
Morning sun
Morning sun
Morning sun
Morning sun

GREAT TUNE!  Brings back memories.  Thanx RP!
As a child of the 80's, this is a great track for me anytime!
Takes me back to those early 90s dance parties in Sydney...... all nighters and some!

You're painting the 80s with too broad of a brush; New Order were never a "hair product" band.
Why doesn't Love Vigilantes get no love here?

That's correct. It's a great version of a great song. Just not this one!

This kicked off the short lived crazy of slapping each other in the face when I was a kid. My mum used to ask me why I have a face like a smacked arse every time I came home 😂

I would agree that it's your perogative.  However, something posted in a public forum is the business of anyone who reads it and chooses to respond.

I wasn't aware there is a "trendy fashion thing" going on with regards to gifs! LOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!

Does "LOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL" rhyme with "jewel"?

Makes me wonder, what would Ian think of this? It's quite the opposite of the gloomy synth rock Joy Division made.
The Best New Order Song!
Love a lot of New Order but this tune is pretty low on the list - overplayed and mediocre compared to their great works.
Love this song, can't help but tap my foot. Many happy memories of many happy times with this tune in the background. Thanks RP!

How do you know what lyrics to sing if you can't differentiate the music?

Not quite on the level of Tears for Fears, but this is classic 80s pop in a good way. Love it!

Can't hear this song without thinking of the dance scene in American Psycho.

American Psycho

One of the best, I like it.
RIP Ian...
You have to love a decade when overly argumentative drummers could credibly be threatened with being replaced by a machine.
Wow. I have a sudden urge to go "clubbing". Glad those days are over. Wish this song was.

Lack of Faith. Lack of Substance.  Substance abuse.

It just reminds me how much I hated mainstream 80's pop. To be fair it isn't a bad tune.

I don't think Radio Paradise should abstain from playing it just because I, personally, happened to hate the 80's. For one thing, if they never played anything I disliked, I'd start worrying. For another, it's good to have an occasional reminder that, yes, exiting the 80s was indeed a sensible choice for humanity in general and me in particular.
Hard to believe one of the darkest bands in history could make this song, with a new singer.

I think this laid the ground work for "What is Love" that SNL made oh so popular.

This is what 3 rating was made for, thanks to New Order.
Great 80's video..

I saw New Order live at the Berkeley Greek Theater when they toured for this Album in 1987. The lineup was with Gene Loves Jezebel and Echo and the Bunnyman. The goth newwave crowd was a show in itself.

Sorry, far too 80's for me.... And not the good 80's at that....
Every era has its good sides. Unfortunately, this wasn't it for me...
This is a critically acclaimed hit from the 80's RP also plays critically acclaimed hits from other decades and obviously stuff from now which is interesting enough to deserve a proper critique.

So not quite sure where your surprise is coming from.

This reminds me of the dance clubs that played New Order extended cuts
in DC.  This music and cocaine that was the scene back then.  A lot of
fun, and late late nights!!!!!
Dang - I love the way this song starts... It gets my foot tapping, my shoulders rocking... Oh, wait - it's an epileptic seizure. {#Roflol} Seriously - I do like this song.  New Order has this damnable way of either making me dance or making me tear my hair out.  Since I still have most of my hair, they usually manage to stay on my good side. This song is straddling the fence...

I'm juuust a little too young to have lived through that time (I would've been in elementary school, and in the United States) but it's still a fun movie to watch.  Steve Coogan should have my babies.

Knowing I'm in a minority, this is no more than 3 cord nifty-fifty glitzzz.... BUT I love the recording of
the recording of pre-recorded drums.Well ya can't accuse them of under-dubbing.

Sorry Birdieboo, legwarmers are back in a big way over here in Sweden.... although they are worn differently (inside boots, with the tops sticking the top like tall socks)  I guess I can handle it, as long as legwarmers don't come back with slashed off the shoulder, cropped Flashdance sweatshirts, uber-short shorts, bright shiny tights, headbands and bad perms.....  I may have to drown myself....

Clearly the problem is mine.  Lighten up bro, it ain't that deep.

Someday when you read comments as they actually are, without adding and imagining them as 'sensitive people', hate mail, dissertations, soap boxes, etc etc., then I won't feel the need to clarify inaccurate portrayals. I don't really care about your own problems with these imaginary issues of yours, so, as you say, 'it ain't that deep' to me.

I am lightened up and I don't even need any helium to get there... I don't have a problem with you...so as far as I'm concerned the matter is closed... this is a really cool song, and we're all moving on to other subject matter.

Let's summarize:

Hate New Order > call them Tuna whiners > get hate mail from sensitive people who tell me not to hate > explained totured heroin addiction angle > doesn't make them sound any better to me > get dissertation from andrew on my lack of musical intellect and my depravity in general, attempt to associate me with "all the jerks who run around trying to control people and the world with their fists, guns, bombs, and a thousand ways to pollute, hurt, kill, maim" because I laugh at girly men and fart in their general direction > tell andrew not to lecture and have a snack of tuna varietal > get hate mail from andrew (still on soapy box)suggesting that I am trying to censor him due to soap box comment and that by saying so I am also questioning his grooming practices, dietary practices and his undying love of the environment and New Order.

Clearly the problem is mine.  Lighten up bro, it ain't that deep.
