GREAT!   RP introduced me to him. Now I have NINE of his tunes on "My Favorites" list.  That is why we come here.  Thanx RP!

Yes. If you notice, his feet don't actually leave the ground. He's just moving his heels up and down, and knees back and forth. It's still amazing even knowing that.
nice guitar and wonderful  chorus singers

its always fun to sing chorus but you gotta have goooooood ears

Indeed, that dancer's performance is "How is he doing that?  Making it all so fluid looking" good?  That's some tremendous physical skill right there.

I have just realized that it is important for me to learn about this picking technique on guitar... and more about this Zaouli dance seen below.

So that was a bit like someone posting a Texan dance on the page from an Alaskan piece of music...  Weeell - it's all America isn't it?
Africa - our physical and spiritual origin. RIP Oliver.
RP introduced me to Oliver, I love everything I've heard of his so far. Very upbeat, infectious beat. Strangely reminiscent of zouk. A definite 9.
Holy crap can Oliver play guitar.  Can we rate songs 11 stars on special occasions?

"Why please, there is no CARLY SIMON played ?
I would like hearing."

love the call & response vocals

Overplayed, Over rated, Over long. I realise it's intellectually unhip to dislike this, I just do. (But top marks to RP for featuring World Music)
I hear this way too often on RP. The thrill is gone.
Great job, Oliver!

Beautiful song. Never heard before. Cannot understand why this can be judged as "boring".
This is one of the worst songs ever made. IMHO. Okay, the tune is nice but repeating it SO MANY TIMES? REALLY? Looks like the author could not make up enough words for entire song and was paid by the minute.

Elephant jokes aside, (and I've looked out of my tent at the scratching tree to see a big tusker rubbing his arse on a particularly suitable forked branch) Oliver brings back Africa nicely. Paul Simon does not.

There, I corrected your sentence. How could anyone claim that this song is played a lot on RP? Of course, for some people once a year is too often. I happen to side with the majority who like this song, play it as often as you like RP.

Once again, I come across a tune I have not heard yet here (or anywhere else for that matter), and Mr. Bond expresses my sentiments.

I guess it has to do with 1962!  And I'm 4 months older......Peace Bro

Oh boy. More Oliver Mtukudzi and his fawning followers... I get it, this man's happy, jingly-jangly music brings pleasure to lots of people. But given the frequency with which it gets played on RP... I want to shoot myself every time it comes on. By all means play "World Music"... But can we either get a little less of it or a little more diversity at least? This has to be one of the most played tunes on all of RP.

jehahn you have an elbow song rated as a 10. That pretty much nixes your right to complain about how often a given band plays on RP. Of course by that note I have to quit whining about Tori Amos ... nevermind carry on.

It sounds like you've been having a really bad day?  I think Mtukudzi's music is not played often enough.  I'm sorry it doesn't help your mood.

Bill, please don't EVER stop adding world music into the mix. It is after all a station described as "eclectic". Perhaps not everyone understands the meaning of eclectic, but fortunately there are a host of alternate radio stations for the narrow.

Oliver Mtukudzi plays regularly in my area, and he (and a number of other Zimbabweans)add incredible flavour to what would otherwise be, very drab & repetative western influenced local music. For those who have enjoyed this track, look out for Devera Ngwenya, Bundu Boys, Thomas Mapfumo and others in this "tshikaranga" genre.

Great stuff, thanks!

Adding my whole-hearted agreement to those already registered!  This is a large part of what makes Bill a true Master of his craft.
This song is just so happy and it makes me happy too.

Well-stated, my worldly friend.  Had me boppin' away instantly.  Love the 'joy' of this sound.  Hope for better things, better lives.  You can "hear" the hope.  Bravo.

Saw Oliver and his band at the Austin City Limits Festival in '05.
My favorite of the bands I'd never seen or heard of before.
