Can anybody fly this thing?
Before my head explodes, before my head starts to ring
We've been living life inside a bubble
We've been living life inside a bubble
Confidence in you, is confidence in me
Is confidence in high speed
Can anybody stop this thing?
Before my head explodes, before my head starts to ring
We've been living life inside a bubble
We've been living life inside a bubble
Confidence in you, is confidence in me
Is confidence in high speed, in high speed
In high speed, you want, high speed, you want
High speed, you want, high speed
Before my head explodes, before my head starts to ring
We've been living life inside a bubble
We've been living life inside a bubble
Confidence in you, is confidence in me

This is, IMO, a highly underrated Coldplay song. I mean generally. It never got much attention but it's one of the most mesmerizing on this great debut album.

I love this album
I think it's a compliment for Coldplay that I'm usually mistaking this song for one of Pearl Jam.

I also recommend this to everybody. Turn off your TV and block out all Main Stream Media including most 'News'papers and Magazines. Trust me, I'm a doctor.

U2 lost their edge (ha ha) after the Joshua Tree because in the beginning they were on a journey to find GOD! After finding success, riches, fame, everything, suddenly, GOD didn't seem to matter much, at least in their songwriting.
Clodplay are just dull. nuff said. As for U2, their first five albums are classics and among the finest recordings of all time (imho), after that they started to disappear up their own arses, only reappearing occasionaly to record masterpieces like Vertigo.

I'm sufficiently oblivious to Top-40 radio, MTV, and the Grammys that I completely missed Coldplay's trek to apparently massive popularity. Which is why I like them on RP. I recommend this listening strategy highly.

I find it rather sad and an embarrassing British trait that we cannot bear to see our bands enjoy massive success. It's always been the case. Suddenly we look for the tiniest reasons why they don't deserve it. Perhaps we feel like they've abandoned their roots? U2 have suffered in the same way. And I remember at school when it was considered a crime to admit liking Duran Duran. Now it's acceptable. I'm sure that one day it'll be "OK" to like Coldplay. Personally I'm happy not to be trendy and I like them now. This first album is superb. I voiced this opinion to a student a few years ago and winced when he condescendingly said "well it's very easy to listen to". I suppose I might well have said something like that as a student. Fortunately I care much less what other people think these days.

Boy, RP is rally going in the dumper. What's with all this "pop" bullshit I'm hearing on here; and same bands over and over?
Hearing less and less of the obscurities and creative stuff that brought me to RP in the first place.
A tune I uploaded nearly a year ago was added to the playlist within a week, but still has yet to be played.

King of the Mountain followed by High Speed. Damnit Bill, I hate what you break into my iPod and steal my playlists.
You guys give me the creeps sometimes.

I like it. Thanks RP!
And another rip off by Coldplay..this time it's Radiohead...with that Pee Wee Herman vocal.
Interesting comment..I love their music. I'm surprised they are not appreciated in Europe. ChrisG wrote:

Unfortunately for you, it belongs on Radio Paradise just as much as any other artist on here does. Sounds like this isn't the radio station for you.
I, and it seems most other listeners, happen to like Coldplay.

Wicked awesome
A better sedative than Mogadon. What is it that people like about Coldplay, anyhow? I've never understood the hype, but maybe I'm just too old...
I'm someone who dislikes Coldplay with a passion, but I have to admit this song is pretty good.
Totally agree.

It was when Radiohead confounded their fans with the electronic twiddlings of "Kid A", Coldplay stepped in doing miserable Radiohead, and Muse stepped in doing noisy Radiohead...

Broken Record, no one cares
High Speed? As Alanis Moreupsette might sing it, 'The title of this song is a bit ironic, don't you think... It's like playing a 78 album on 33 1/3 speed...It's like having Coldplay when Radiohead is what you really neeeed"
Footnote: For anyone born after 1980, those turntable things that DJs "scratch" on used to play vinyl "records" at different speeds. You could also use them to play songs backwards after smoking really bad weed while drinking TAB and worshiping Satan (start going backwards after Robert Plant sings "yes, there are two paths you can go by...". Or my fave, after ELO says "elbasrever si cisum eht"
:sunny.gif: awesome...
Coldplay is at its best in the minor keys. Don't you agree? Much less... yellow.

I have to admit the guitar textures in this song are very similar to those in Subterranean Homesick Alien. BUT, overall Radiohead is on a much higher level than Coldplay, in every aspect. DonÃ't get me wrong. I like Coldplay. But I just donÃ't see how they can be compared with Radiohead. They arenÃ't innovative, Radiohead is. Coldplay has a much more mainstream sound. Radiohead is everything Coldplay lacks: great lyrics, incredible mood setting and complex melodies and arrangements, catchy and yet dark riffs and beats.
I am pretty sure how the next Coldlpay album will sound, but I have no idea what the next Radiohead album is gonna sound like, so thatÃ's just another big difference.
Cold Play - - - innovative, unique, spooky, dark . . . . a nice weave of dreamy thoughts and off-hand emotion . . . nicely done
