boy when out on a boat tonight
waiting on his lover
seen his mermaid bride in the moonlight
and the arms of another
she said "standing on the water is easier to do
then to try and be a family living here with you
and the more I've been thinking
the more I know I'm living alone
now they see him out on the waterways
rolling on the foam
only memory for a future
only ocean for a home
'cause amelia's the name that she calls herself these days
and "birds! birds!" is all we heard before she flew away
and the more I've been thinking
the more I know I'm living alone

thank you! lovin' it on this gray morning. gary jules is my man.
How much snake oil for a wolfticket?
From all the songs I've heard by him, the best one is the TTF cover. This one's okay. Some of his others I'm not impressed with. Just my opinion.

Yeah. I agree. I honestly thought all Gary could do was sing that infernal Mad World remake.
I have to run an errand. I'll be back when the song is over.
I would listen to this while I was vacuuming. So I wouldnt have to hear it

Kind of has that Neil Halstedt thing going on. (or is it the other way around?)
Mellow and melancholy...(and I like it that way)

umm... i dont know what the price on the amazon link above is all about, but amazon actually has this album listed for $10.99, three bucks cheaper than the other place.
Just FYI: The Amazon price was absurdly high before; TSFW was only released stateside pretty recently, so it was an overpriced EP before.

With all due respect to RP's arrangement with Amazon, you get get this album for about half their price from CD Baby: https://www.cdbaby.com/cd/garyjules

Nice. Good to see RP playing more than the 'Mad World' cover and nice that this guy has more in him than that.
I hear a bit of David Gray and Five for Fighting in there somewhere. Maybe not so much in this song but definitely in Mad World and DTLA.

This song really grew on me as it went on. What was that in the background? Is that some sort of phasing effect on the accoustic in the foreground or is there another instrument back there? Pretty cool sound in any case. Would love to hear another example from this guy.
