This album helped get me back and forth across the country during many road trips
Very nice Spanish/Mexican style guitar playing....
Oh sweet Mario, if you would have taken a walk with me all those years ago....

Just because you do not like the way someone looks, you seem to think he/she is not capable of being an artist, whether you like what he/she does, or not!
All Hail to superficial idiots like you!
Wars have started on less prejudice!
What would YOU say if someone would say about you "oh he is a fxxxing idiot because he has slit eyes"?
As long as stupidity has a place in this world, all is well!!!

Wow... That's awesome. I totally forgive the TERRIBLE cover! This is one of those albums I wouldn't give a second glance in a music store just due to the 80's Kenny G look. Maybe I'll download the MP3s just so I don't have to look at it...
(edit... just read all the additional comments below. i totally agree — go with the look you like. but you can't blame people for pointing out the obvious!)

He is technically good, but makes boring music. Just no variations what so ever. He keeps repeating the same one riff all the time.
But more Spanish guitar on RP would be good!

Loved this! If you like Jesse, you might like James Keelaghan & Oscar Lopez (aka The Compadres) and their brand of Celtino music (Celtic-Latino). Oscar's guitar is great, although sublte.

Alright ! Got a couple of Jesse's CDs - you know, those plastic discs. Really like his stuff. First time catching it here.

Well said sirrah!
The excellent musicianship deserves a more imaginative and creative cover. This cover is beyond stupid. Wow! Look at that he must be balancing that guitar on edge like that...must be 'gravity'....cool...wait...the end of the guitar out of the view is being held up by some goon with his "thumbs up" gesture....Great music though.

The Wife and I saw him 2 years ago in Alamogordo, NM. Great Show! He's a funny, warm guy really into his audiece as we were into him.
I don't think this guy can record a bad song! I like almost everything he records, and I never would have known about him if I hadn't heard him on RP! I only wish I could see him perform in person, but I don't think he'll ever visit little ole Spokane, WA.

You're 100% correct. Which makes me even more ashamed that my first reaction when I opened up with song link was something on the order of eyes popping out of my head. I used to play with a guitar player who did a very similar thing to his hair (except he ALSO had a blond strip down the middle... I have no idea why). It took the guy an hour and a half to get ready to do anything. Maintaining a 'do like that requires serious metro-effort.
I liked the song of course.

Cool story. Thanks for sharing! I just love the Gipsy Kings, too. Just a sucker for this kind of acostic guitar I am!
I had the CBC on in the car yesterday afternoon. About halfway home, the DJ came on and started talking about Jesse Cook. Apparently Jesse's parents split when he was young, and he would spend his winters in Canada with his mom and his summers with his dad in southwestern France. His dad's next-door neighbor was Nicolas Reyes, the lead singer of the Gipsy Kings.

My co-worker is really digging this tune.

because it's beyond gay, as we say in the UK he looks a right gaylord!
Argh. I am trying really hard not to let that lame cover art influence my rating for the music!
Because, wow, the coolness of the guitar is only matched by the lameness of that hair.

This is the only Jesse song played on the smooth jazz stations. While I like it, I'd prefer to hear some other Jesse, some Ottmar Liebert, more Strunz & Farah, Gypsy Kings (no vocals!), et al. Not to discount Paco DeLucia and a host of others.
More Jesse, please.
terrific guitarist.
More Spanish guitar ! ! !
Who gives a shit what the guy/cover looks like. This is feckin MUSIC!
This music is nothing short of amazing!
He caught my ear with a tune on here yesterday, and now this again today.....keep "Cooking" RP!
My favorite cooking is done with red wine!
I'm with GChevy410 on the album cover comment. dude does look like a tard. I still gave the song a 10 but had to close my eyes.

Great graphic, that's what I thought of when I saw the title. Nice fingerpicking.
I read the other comments. This poor dude probably could use a flatiron, something about that oval broad jaw and pale face just doesnt seem to gel with those curls... I'd expect a Segal ponytail or a buzz cut.
And the pose, the guitar looks like its being subjected to Globetrotter tricks it wasnt intended for.
Great Guitar in this tune espically by Jesse Cook
KPIG used to play this during their "local ad" breaks when they were just on the internet, pre-XM.
I always wondered what the album cover looked like. What a silly looking guitar!
wow. un....be...lieveable picture. tremendous Jeri curl">

So, what do we give for moronic comments? Generally, you say intelligent things, but this thing...ain't.
Still an excellent tune from a very entertaining dude, who you gotta catch in concert if you can.
did the gypsy kings ever do this song as well? i thought for some reason this was one of theirs...

Many are commenting on this man's hair style -- probably due to its specific effect on the recorded sound. Funny though . . . to me, this track sounds like the guitarist who's playing has curly hair but darker, and slightly shorter, than as depicted. Hmmmm. That's odd.
I gave him the beinfit and gave it an 8. I hope that he uses the change to get a hair style, he looks like Michael Bolton and that aint good.
Watered-down flamenco for the masses.
Always like this guy's stuff.

Which came first? The Leibert or the Cook?
Ottmar, by about 5 years. While friends say he's a real d!ckhead up in Santa Fe, he's been doing his thing (on widely distributed albums) since around 1990, whereas Jesse, who's the nicest guy you've ever met, put his first album in 1995. But yeah, the hair needs to go. :-D
Excellent tune from one of my favorite rumba flamenco guitarists. ;-)
Hey, a Canadian gypsy!!

methinks the leibert came first. I'd been listening to leibert for about 5 yeasr before discovering Cook. I now prefer Cook's style.
This song rocks my socks. I have this entire CD. It's one of those cd's I put on, and listen to for 3 hours before noticing it's played through about 3 times. I just love every second of it.
and as canuckbeaker mentioned, he's Canadian.
Not Bad. I nearly gave it a 1 for his haircut though.
Please, please play more of this... :nodhead:
thats why RP make my life better

Uh...could NOT tell where TTWS ended and this took up...
:D
There's several groups that crop up in the RP rotation that I've almost gotten used to going "MAN this is GREAT, who IS it?!" - Jesse Cook has consistently come up that way. This is the first time I've heard this track, and I'm seriously bouncing. The man rocketh.
I hear Bamboleo...
I love damned near every piece of music Jesse Cook produces!
Wonderful music!!

Agreed! However I say pull out some of his first works (Elegant Gypsy, Casino). If flamenco/jazz/rock is what you want, it doesn't get any better than young Al DiMeola!
Hm, very good. Added to the list of music to consider buying my wife for her birthday.
Reminds me of Ottmar Liebert
