There you were on the floor, cut up
And all alone, I'll help you
Conceived in a chrome dream, I was a crease
In the shirt that this world wears
Till I met Blue, I was in obscurity, he said
Loosen up, who do you wanna be?
We could steal a car and listen to the stars
I can see you've choked on them too
Had enough of late night films
Just enough for an hour or two
Oh, Blue, show me something new
Hey, Blue, show me something new

Blue, I've got a question every time I hold you
Yeah, Blue, I've got a question every time I swallow you, it's true

Spike danced for 10 days long
We were just heading for the sun
You shot him down, there's blood on my face
His heart's in the right place
What they gonna do to you?
What they gonna do?

Blue, don't forget the word, I warned you
Oh, Blue, don't let them push you, don't let them destroy you
Meanwhile, I'm searching with my brain blown eyes
See the world through my dirty, lonely, mixed up mind

YEEESSSS!!!  Finally some classic Verve! Such an incredible band that really didn't get the limelight they deserved. I highly recommend this album in particular for anyone curious about going deeper....  They do have MANY amazing songs beyond Bittersweet Symphony.

100% agree.

fantastic album. i love them all. richard at his best.

{#Dancingbanana}This is a REALLY great song for the kind of day I'm having - the sun's shining, I just paid my credit card bill for the month, harvested a bag of catnip for the local no-kill shelter's bake sale tomorrow, and I'm about to paint my fingernails and toenails a lovely coppery-pink color and then have a cup of coffee with a splash of Captain Morgan's spiced rum.  Life is goooooood.{#Sunny}

Great tune!
This is a really consistent album and this song is a good sample of what you will get with the rest of the album.  Good, driving rock.  A little intensity; a little urgency, lots of droney guitars and passionate vocals.

love.
Please, please! more songs from A Storm in Heaven or the Verve EP and never make us listen to Bittersweet Symphony again!
...this is good - why'd they have to do bittersweet symphony?..
Bad A$$
10. Enough said.

YEAH!  Great way to kick off a sunny Friday!  Woo Hoo, VERVE!!!
Need more Verve!
Yes!  Glad to hear Verve on RP!  I second the request for more tunes from A Storm in Heaven, say, "The Sun, the Sea" or "Butterfly"

great groove ! i like the sounds in the background.....
more verve, please.

more verve please, while a good song there is much better by them. anything from NORTHERN SOUL or A STORM IN HEAVEN.

Thanks rickhoran, I agree, more Verve would be appreciated RP.

This track has a lot of similarities with the group "Wig". I have what I think is the one and only Wig promotional CD ... wall of guitar sort of sound. Like it.
more verve please, while a good song there is much better by them. anything from NORTHERN SOUL or A STORM IN HEAVEN.

I tried to upload another song from this outstanding album and it got canned immediately. I'll try another one....
What's with that immediate canning?

TIT - Troll In Training ? Love that wall of guitar sound. Quite likeable.
Hell of a set here, Bill-san! Old Bob Welch FM, Smithereens, and The Verve...and heard some groovy Robbie R a bit ago...cranking the jams, ain'tcha?! Keep it up!
Jaaaaa!!!! Dirty guitars, forcing voice. That's the way I like my rock. Will rate this an 8.....or a 9....?
Thank you RP. Check that mad guitar playing fury!
Front to back a most excellent album, IMO.
Juicy.
Very cool, airy and imaginative. I definitely want to check out more from this album. Once again, an infinite number of thank you's to RP for turning me on to yet another cool tune!
Classic Verve, before that pesky "The" got in the way. Love it. This album is chock-full of great shoe-gazing rock. So interesting to see the band evolve from this to the Oasis-lite "A Northern Soul" (complete with Liam clapping on the History track) to Bittersweet Symphony.
erm... Was it the encode or was that quite possibly the worse produced worse sounding Verve track ever? There was a strange shuffle sound that kept comming in and drowning out all the other sound. Everything just merged into noise. I could hear there was some sound in there trying to come through but the production was such a mess nothing came through properly.
beautifully arranged, melodic noise

This rocks pretty damn hard! Never would have heard of these guys if not for RP... THANKS!

Richard Ashcroft is a genuis! Wonderful.
And, in this case certainly not to forget even more so is Nick McCabe - the guitarist.

:nodhead: .. oh yes ..If I was forced to choose a "favorite band" it would be The Verve. Hope someday we'll see them together again.
is that likely? I would love it...but their breakup seemed pretty final.
A Cavern of Sound! Love it!
Back to back groovy album art (last song was Smithereens Blood & Roses). Gotta appreciate all the ways that RP is better than radio...
Richard Ashcroft is a genuis! Wonderful.
Heh. Teh forum doesn't allow one to throw teh brackets.
Yep, this is .

i love this album... nothing like the newer stuff like bittersweet symphony etc.
Not my favourite Verve track, but it's still a tasty tidbit. L
An absolute mess with no discernable features--not even a beat!
still sounds great
put me down for early verve! this album is classic.
IMHO Verve's early stuff is the best. Check out the rest of this album; it's chilled, semi-psychodelic rock throughout, great stuff.

Oh, grow up!
what do you mean, "IMMATURE?" This is their best stuff!
Bit angst-ridden for me - and maybe just a bit immature. I prefer their later stuff...
what a great band. I'm wondering if I should get any of Ashcroft's solo stuff
This has a very Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Stone Roses, Soundtrack of our Lives feel to it... That's a very good thing.
OOO i love the verve. great song, but there are better in their library.
My obligatory guitar guy is rockin! Yeah!!!
