Lyrics:

Hit upon 'em, Joe
Raise the barn yourself
Hit upon 'em, Joe
Raise the barn yourself

Rain's gonna fall
Rain's gonna fall
Rain's gonna fall
Rain's gonna fall

Rain, rain
Gonna fall down on your head
Rain, rain
Gonna fall
Rain, rain
Gonna fall down on your head
Rain, rain
Gonna fall

Don't get out
Hit upon 'em, Joe
You can raise the barn yourself
As you're kickin' in the sun, yeah
Hit upon 'em, Joe
You can raise the barn yourself
As you're kickin' in the sun, yeah

Rain gonna fall
Rain gonna fall
Rain gonna fall
Rain gonna fall

Rain, rain
Gonna fall down on your head
Rain, rain
Gonna fall
Rain, rain
Gonna fall down on your head
Rain, rain
Gonna fall
Still no way I can up this from the original 1 I gave it. Its plain awful. How did it ever get onto the RP playlist, considering the real goo d stuff that gets turned down. This sounds like a bunch of 13 yr olds in the garage at the week end. In fact it sounds worse. They cant play. They cant sing. They cant do anything. They're about as much use as Biro with no ink.
Wish I saw/heard this live.

I've noticed that for some reason it likes to play some songs more than others, I guess it's some attempt at AI. I haven't been able to work which logic it uses though.
i thought he was singing.. 'raise.. raise..the barn!" and that maybe this was an amish hyper-boogie. a little too manic for me.

I liked the beginning and would have liked the whole track if it stayed that mellow
Yup, it the intro started out interesting then it was downhill from there. Maybe you had to be there
I use to make fun of these guys because of that one song they had on MTV several years ago. I must say, though, they do deliver the goods...

Hippie goat, Cher wannabe. . .

I thought so. Mine used to play 'Bad, Bad, Man" by John Cena. (WHY that was on the iPod is a different question.) The iPod now stolen, I hope it's playing something horrible on repeat for whomever stole it. Jerks.

TOTALLY!! Random-ness is the best function ever on it.....

Hibbityabbityoobityawww!!!!! That about sums up what the singing sounds like. It's like a hoedown with a drunk deaf man reading the Jabberwocky over the band's music.
That is actually quite funny, there, p-loaf!

I love the harp. I play harp myself. This is just AWFUL. Remember that song by Capt. Beefheart ? Gimme that harp, boy!!
yeah i remember. thats a great song
I'm sittin here in Phoenix. It hasn't rained since the middle of October. Last year. I turned this tune up loud, I started dancin', wavin' my hands, howlin' like a wolf, prayin'....prayin'.... This behavior sounds desperate - no?
As a guy named Joe, I have to take this song personally.
This just isn't a good song. Bad vocals, both lead and back-up make me want retch. Someone at RP has a soft heart for Rusted Root, and I have yet to figure out why.
*edit* I don't use that emoticon lightly.

If the lead singer put 1/3 of the effort into his voice in concert as he does in the studio, this song would get rated above a five.

ok, maybe this song is no masterpiece but it's oodles o' fun to dance to. and i agree that Cruel Sun is quite good.
Really? Oh well if you like that kind of thing go for it.
Not for me. <-X
As every thing Rusted Root does, this song kicks ass live! Espesialy for some one whos name is Joe! Unfourtunatly the studio cut of this song is accually better than this particular live version!

Surely you've never heard 'Cruel Sun'... I hope your exposure to RR isn't limited to RP b/c they don't have their best songs.
Well said, 'Cruel Sun' is an excellent album, crammed with lots of fun tunes. I can't sit still when I listen to it, i just gotta get up and jam!
No thanks....maybe at a hoe-down. This song is annoying.

Hey Rusted Root, if you're bored and end up reading this, I want you to know that it's nothing personal. I can tell, objectively, that you guys are a good band. Probably. You have good singing and playing and beats and... not-too-annoying lyrics. Well, they annoy me. My point is, you don't suck. I just don't like your music. Maybe it's a genre thing. What is your genre, anyway? Folky world something? I just really don't care for it. Best of luck.

As a recovering DMB fan, that is the best analysis of this genre I've ever heard (maybe because it's both intuitive and conceptual)...
This version, is horrible sounding. Great song, but bad, bad version. I don't know if it is a low-fi , or just plain bad recording of this version. The studio version truly is much much better. Can we replace this one with the studio version?

I am excited to see Rusted Root here on RP. This version of "Rain" attempts to capture the energy of one of their live performances and comes close. I am leaning towards the studio version though.
Actually this IS live. And this live CD, their first full length live release is excellent. Check out "Ecstatic Drums" on it.
The original CD is excellent. Loved almost every song. But this live version of Rain doesn't compare to the studio version.
interesting opening. I wish they had a bit more range, though the original album was worth buying just for the first 3 tracks.
