Kasabian's first album hits exactly the right balance between classy and trashy.  Most of their other albums fall over into the trashy side.

Those that think they are hearing the Artic Monkeys obviously haven't heard enough by this innovative, lively and exciting band!  Google and watch their live sets from Glastonbury a couple of years ago and see why they are very well liked here.

I have zero rules when it comes to who what where when or why a song was created. If it makes me move to the groove, it is going to be to my liking regardless of anything. Music is amazing like that. There really are no rules, just personal enjoyment.

Well, you can download their albums on Yahoo - pretty good deal at $5/month. Great combo - Radio Paradise to bring you the new music and Yahoo to get the music on your MP3 player!

It wasn't necessarily their decision...could've been the label OR the destributor, either without the group's consent.

I do. My mp3 player, XMMS, will do something nice. It will, instead of sending the music to my audio card, send it to a file (wav, uncompressed format). I then just compress the file back to mp3 and burn it to a disk. I am running Fedora Core 4 (Linux) though, not crappy Windoze.... I use lame to compress the file. On Windows, I also recommend Exact Audio Copy (EAC) for ripping your own CDs. Oh, I have an Alpine deck in my car that plays MP3s. You could put the music on an IPod just as well though

Reminiscent of a possible hybrid between Beck and The Stone Roses
I like the CD, too. Not as much as I hoped to based on tracks like this and "Ovary Stripe", but still it's money well spent, IMO.
Kasabian is the first band RP played that I went out and bought the CD. Good call although several of you disagree with my COOL analysis of their good tunes.

so i went on a RP inspired CD buying splurge (through the amazon link of course) and have since been trying to listen to it all. anyways this is one of the disks I got. Very good stuff, solid, different tempo's and feels to each of the songs and solid throughout. only one thing, and not Kasabian's fault I'm sure. The copy protection on this CD F***ing sucks. makes it impossible to put a decent rip on your hardrive. the one it lets you have freezes my winamp half the time. ho hum, damn corporations

Stone Roses signature sound was more conventional psychedelia, unlike the Charlatans which infused a lot of funkiness into the sound. But the Stone Roses could funk it up when they wanted to -- give "Fool's Gold" or the second half of "I Am the Resurrection" a spin. pedro wrote:

Beck. That song was off one of his first solo albums and since then every album has been strong. Kasabian is a new band and I like the direction they're headed.

I was thinking of Urban Dance Squad, because of the sort of angry singer/rapper and hip hop/rock influences. More commercial but not at all with a similar impact and that intense, IMO.
