Still falling
Breathless and on again
Inside today
Beside me today
Around, broken in two
Till your eyes shed
Into dust
Like two strangers
Turning into dust
Till my hand shook
With the way I fear
I could possibly be fading
Or have something more to gain
I could feel myself growing colder
I could feel myself under your fate
Under your fate
It was you
Breathless and tall
I could feel my eyes turning into dust
And two strangers
Turning into dust
Turning into dust
Breathless and on again
Inside today
Beside me today
Around, broken in two
Till your eyes shed
Into dust
Like two strangers
Turning into dust
Till my hand shook
With the way I fear
I could possibly be fading
Or have something more to gain
I could feel myself growing colder
I could feel myself under your fate
Under your fate
It was you
Breathless and tall
I could feel my eyes turning into dust
And two strangers
Turning into dust
Turning into dust

Mazzy Star is the reason I started playing Guitar back in the 90s. One night I saw an acoustic performance on MTV and was simply stunned by the sound. I bought a guitar and watched the VHS Tape over and over again to figure out the Chords. A huge part of my personal music history. Greetings from Darmstadt in Germany!
Grüße aus Nordamerika! This is the power of transcendent music - bridging the planet, linking kindred spirits. This is among my top favorites, garnered a "9" from me. I never tire of hearing it. Seien Sie glücklich und gesund! Wees gelukkig en gezond!

I listened to their albums again after David Roback died. In the early days I was fixated on Hope Sandoval and didn't appreciate what an incredible talent he was.
Always so powerful.
Arresting.
Perfect song to follow up the Latino set!
Great music, thank you from Holland.
Ahhhh, Hope Sandoval. What a voice.
Search on Youtube for "Beck - Loser + Mazzy Star - Into Dust Mashup".
Thank me later ;)

more beautiful than when I laid in bed dreaming out the windows of Bruce Hall, UNT, 1991.
Especially since the album came out in 1993
I was young when this came out but I remember hearing it somewhere. Love it. Great album.

yes, yes, oh yes!
This would have been recorded around spring or summer 1993. I've been noticing there was a lot of sad music that came out that year. I blame REM and some of those dark tracks from Automatic For The People... it seemed to have started with them.

I wonder the same. For me the music only gets as important as it used to be when it reminds me of a personal experience or I can strongly relate to it in some way. In those times I connect with the music even more than I did when I was young. Occurrences of this are relatively rare though, but seem to happen more than I care to admit due to the high volume of RP that I listen to! I'm not sure if this is related, but recent research has shown that the teenage brain has somewhere about 10 times (1000 percent) of the hormones of a full adult. All those hormones sloshing around may have messed a bit with our perceptions at the time. Or perhaps it was something else messing with my perceptions at the time too, lol!
I was a young teenager when this came out. Back then this music seemed terribly important for some reason. Now, when I hear this song I feel nostalgic for the time when music like this was terribly important. Perhaps, in the end it actually is (terribly important that is) and I have just lost track of something along the way.

Binge watching Bosch and this comes on as Maddie makes her way into Borrego canyon...
Hope has a great voice! Ten out of ten!
So timeless, this needs an "11" rating!!!
like this album alot. (yes, a lame comment but there you are!)
updating: just read the comment about sad music and am perplexed. can we help where music takes us, and perhaps where we need to be taken? why do we have to try to analyze every lyric or even where the feel of the piece takes us? can we not simply let ourselves be moved by either what where we are taken or when a lyric just seems devastating or very emotive of something we feel or think we understand at hearing it?

Such forlorn, poignant words.
And sparse music.
Brilliant.

Always thought this song had a Doors "This is the End" vibe. Which of course made me like it right away.
They're auctioning off David Roback's personal gear right now. RIP

This beautiful, ethereal, contemplative piece is wonderful. In fact, the whole disk is wonderful! Highly recommended.
always like Mazzy Star - but this tune matches my mood tonight. Doing taxes and have been rating everything high - for the distraction factor?

Sad for Hope, dealing with the loss of David Roback. Sad for us all.
Favorite song of a good friend of mine who passed away many years ago. Hearing this song always brings me back to Williamsburg Brooklyn in 1996, when I lived this song, played it over and over again in an attempt to grab a wisp of smoke, and have never been the same since.

Beautiful yet, a bit eerie. As a whole, beautiful voice and awesome instrumentals. Solid 9. Sorry listeners, I can't give ANY artist a 10 as, nothing Earthly is remotely God-like, no matter how much I like it or how good it may be.

This song is pure musical perfection for me. An amazing work!
I would swear I hear a cello expressing deep bass notes and resonant emotion underneath the sweet guitar and Hope Sandoval's marvelous voice; but Wiki says it's a violin.
Can someone more musically experienced than I am tell me which is true?

more dull Mazzy Star.
Magnificent and sparse, Mazzy Star at their best. A dirge on existential despair.

And yes, I listen to RP for hours and hours on end. This might be a personal problem.

Not likely. Maybe an unexpected link to the rest of humanity. or a realization of how beautifully a simple feeling can be expressed by a beautiful person.

I always feel that an artist arrives at a point where a piece of work truly defines who they are and what they are about. For me, this song defines Mazzy Star like no other.

Dead-on, romeotuma. This song in particular... I heard the first strains of it, after dealing with a world of cats in heat, a brother in debt, and dogs freaked out by thunder... and I just took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and everything melted.
This song is yum.
Thank you, Calypsus_1, as always, for the visual... *hugs you*

That was just perfect. I was working away here at my computer, and then this song started and I was just transported to another...I don't know what. But far far away from here. Very hypnotic. Came to when it ended. Gorgeous.

"Dust to Dust" pays tribute to the heroes of one of gaming's most epic sagas.
In April 2010, "Ashes to Ashes" set a grim stage fraught with desperation, but a glimmer of hope remained as Delta clung to the ideal of brotherhood. Months later came the E3 2011 trailer featuring "War Pigs," and new images of resilience as Sera's last remaining human forces rallied in an explosive fight for survival. Now, set to the song "Into Dust" by Mazzy Star, the stirring new broadcast trailer follows the full saga of Marcus and Delta's journey across all three "Gears of War" games as they charge head-on into the end.

My first time for this song. Beautiful.
Sounds like Jefferson Airplane.
This is a brilliant track, even though it has been over played recently on adverts for mobile phones and games.
I heard this on the TV commercial for Gears of War 3 and recognized it as Mazzy Star right a way, great song!
