The moment I wake up
Before I put on my makeup ''(makeup)''
I say a little prayer for you
While combing my hair, now
And wondering what dress to wear, now ''(wear, now)''
I say a little prayer for you

(Forever) Forever, and ever
(you'll stay in my heart and I will love you)
(Forever) Forever, and ever
(we never will part oh, how I love you)
(Together) Together, forever
(that's how it must be to live without you)
Would only mean heartbreak for me, ooh

I run for the bus, dear
While riding I think of us, dear ''(us, dear)''
I say a little prayer for you
At work I just take time
And all through my coffee break-time ''(break-time)''
I say a little prayer for you

(Forever) Forever, and ever
(you'll stay in my heart and I will love you)
(Forever) Forever, and ever
(we never will part Oh, how I love you)
(Together) Together, forever
(that's how it must be to live without you
Would only mean heartbreak for me)
Nobody but me

(Forever) Forever, and ever
(you'll stay in my heart and I will love you)
(Forever) Forever, and ever
(we never will part Oh, how I love you)
(Together) Together, forever
(that's how it must be to live without you
Would only mean heartbreak for me)

My darling, believe me ''(believe me)''
For me there is no one but you
Please love me too
I'm in love with you
Answer my prayer
Answer my prayer now babe, oh-oh

(Forever) Forever, and ever
(you'll stay in my heart and I will love you)
(Forever) Forever, and ever
(we never will part Oh, how I love you)
(Together) Together, forever
(that's how it must be to live without you
Would only mean heartbreak for me)

My darling, believe me
For me there is no one but you
Please love me too
This is my prayer
Answer my prayer now, babe
This my prayer
Say you love me too
Answer it right now babe
Answer my prayer
Sy you love me, too

Sweet Jesus, if only I could wake up in the morning able to sing like her.
This is in the mellow mix? what?
eh whatever, always great to hear.

Seems to me that Aretha has a version, too -- and it's pretty good.  I vote 8.

There is only one version of this song... Dionne Warwick
We will miss you Ms Aretha. You touched so many lives.
Dionne Warwick sung this better IMO
I had rated it as  a 9.  What was I thinking?  10 all the way.

Aunt of Whitney Houston

I first thought that you confused her with Dionne Warwick, but Wikipedia sort-of agrees with you:

She was made Whitney's honorary aunt (not a godmother as has been
occasionally misreported), and Whitney often referred to her as "Auntie  Ree".

Could she ever do anything wrong?  She was amazing.

Love the song!!!!
It's hard to have to say goodbye to the Queen. This one blasting from the transistor radios of aunties and elders and such as a child at the beach house on summer days, well, it just always made a heart soar. RIP Aretha Franklin.
I was waiting for it but it still made me cry...RIP Aretha and thank-you for all the wonderful music...

Well thanks for this. Long forgotten example of Aretha showing why she truly was and is 'The Queen'.
The Queen is dead. Long live the Queen.

RIP Aretha
Adieu, Aretha. The queen of the graceful superpower note.
Rest in Power, Queen of Soul. You enriched our lives.
We'll miss you.  Rest in peace.
Rest in peace Aretha. You will be missed.
ULTIMATE VOICE OF POWER AND JOY!!!  THANK YOU ARETHA

A perfect storm!
Thanks Bill!!

RIP Queen

I have a feeling that in the coming decade or so, BillG could make playlists just from our dearly departed singers/songwriters - another of our GREATS is now gone, 76 years young.  Long Live RP and RIP to Aretha (who I've always enjoyed, plus she had the same birthday as my mom; March 25th.)  I'm rating this one a 9 (8+1 for the RIP.)

(I wonder how many of the (surprisingly few) AF tracks we'll hear in the coming days....or maybe some new AF tracks will grace the RP airwaves?)

I concur, please play again Bill!
{#Meditate}
One of the best and most soulful songs of the undisputed Queen of Soul, and yet it hasn't been played since June 2000, with only my vote.

What gives?

Go on, Bill, give this one another spin! I'm sure many listeners would really appreciate it.
