Miles and miles on my own
Warm with shame, I follow on
A language to find hard to hear
Not to understand, just disappear

To hold your heart, to hold your hand
Would be to me, the greatest thing
To hold your heart, hold your hand
Would be to me, the bravest thing

Could you take my place and stand here?
I do not think you would take this pain
You'd be on your knees and struggle under the weight
Oh, the truth would be a beautiful thing
Oh, the truth is a beautiful thing

I wear another thought of you
With so much harm my gift to you
Hide you somewhere they don't know
Deep in my core you know you have a throne

Hold your heart, hold your hand
Would be to me, the greatest thing
To hold your heart, to hold your hand
Would be to me, the bravest thing

Could you take my place and stand here?
I do not think you would take this pain
You'd be on your knees and struggle under the weight
Oh, the truth would be a beautiful thing
Oh, the truth is a beautiful thing

I'm not a songwriter or producer, but I think that's the point. The sparsity of the piano and synthesized tunes lets her voice stand out (as it should for this song). I think the arrangement is absolutely spot on.
total perfection
Someone posted a dead YouTube link to the band performing this song live.  Here is a working link.  I think I like the live version even better.

London Grammar - Truth Is A Beautiful Thing (Live Glastonbury Festival 2017) - YouTube
Every time I hear this I have to close my eyes and just breathe... that voice, the song.  Goose bumps.  Every. Single. Time.
don't stone me, I used to think it was a "pretty nice" upper mid rate song.... until now. I'm a slow learner. I just spent half an hour or so to read your comments, read about the band and actually read the lyrics.  This pulled me in to a new London Grammar Universe of delicate beauty! It is indeed and very beautiful song and thank you all for making me understand a piece of art better.
This has to be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I'm playing Radio Paradise in the background while I work and just...full stop. The lyrics and her voice caught me. The range of tones is incredible.
Must agree with BillG.  Talk by ColdPlay flows into this one really nicely.

I have been doing the same...
Really loving LG... that voice, that piano....just exceptional.  Today I also upped it to a 10.
really liking what i am hearing from LG!
Come on.... I'm trying to work... How am I supposed to concentrate when this goddess is singing to me?
i don't know if truth is neceessarily a beautiful thing, in the classic aesthetic sense.

However, if an epithany is involved, then perhaps.
My score for this track has kept rising and rising with every listen, until today I finally upped it to a 10.  Simply gorgeous!
fucking beautiful.
If anyone wonders why I keep banging on about vocalists vs singers, and the inability to hear a (usually female, but some males are equally affected) voice without excessive heavy inbreaths, Hannah and her producer/sound engineer show what can be done!
Perfect seamless segue from You Can Bring Me Flowers to Truth Is a Beautiful Thing. And how is it that Billbecca's mastery of the Lost Art of DJing - expressed in global and timeless broadcast with occasional repeat segments - is ALWAYS spot on, not only a soundtrack, but an oracle, a dream mirror reflection and affirmation of "real" life, ever commenting, curating, corralling the zeitgeist, the Flow, with gemlike occasional sets that slyly editorialize, dropped into the mix of the ever delightful, ever delicious, RadioParadise sumptuosness?
Goosebumps! Thank you RP for exposing me to LG!
What a voice!
Looking at that cover, I wonder what it's like being those other two dudes in the band.  I can't imagine they get very much recognition, as they're entirely upstaged by Hannah.
Thank you RP! I now own three London Grammar CDs...

this song reminds me of 2017..

yes. in my place

i love london grammar and hannah's voice

I'd love for Hannah to creep into my room and sing me to sleep...
The most beautiful voice Ive heard in a long time! Gives me chills!
I picture this song playing in the background as the recently paroled Red ponders whether he should join Andy in Mexico.

Yes and yes. Coupled with great songwriting and incredible, deliberately sparse yet stellar, backing by the band. Production too is superior.

The power of a hammer, the sweetness of a caress. Every time.

Probably for all "presidents" around the world, and throughout time, too, I'd say.
Stops me in my tracks.  Every. Single. Time.
Perfect argument for the "less is more" approach. Minimal instrumentation used in order to highlight her amazing (haunting) voice.

yeah its not even worth that
I hear something both new and familiar every time this song plays

And whether I ‘hear’ this in the recording or in the depths of my soul  it’s ever — and always — welcome.

TyRP, for exposing me to this amazing band. (yeah….I say that a LOT!)

What a haunting voice. Anyone else hearing Annie Lennox?
Up to 9.
stops you in your tracks this one. A beautiful thing indeed as many have said before, something truly special about her voice
Hannah's voice and lyrics are so incredible. This song stops my in my tracks every time. "Could you take my place and stand here? I do not think you'd take this pain." I don't even know what to do with lyrics like that.
Such a beautiful voice. Hannah....I is a fan!

That's not a belly button. That is a sound hole. That is why she has such a resonate vioce.
Like all of us, I hope one day soon we will arrive at some universal truth. Bill & Rebecca Goldsmith, believe it or not, have been here for us through every crisis of the 21st century as we all turn to this community to sort through our various perspectives.

I am a freelance .gov and .mil, most have you have not heard of me other than my various posts on this forum. I am the Chief Architect of NATO and UN CYBERCOM and founder of STARFLEET IN BOLD http://mil.wwidew.net. My public role is Coalition Leader of http://multiplex.studio, a not-for-profit think tank and R&D agency that seeks to ensure that world powers are manipulated into becoming better actors.

What I ask is that each of you read those pages, some of the links are broken due to my in/odyss3us ending up classified, hopefully temporarily, and contact the various groups and people to become involved. One of my main concepts is that OPSEC through obfuscation is a broken security model: nearly everything we work on is published in the public domain.

We are non-funded at the moment and honestly I could keep it that way. As such I am announcing my plans to go to RP model on financing.

If you value, or seek, western freedom I encourage you to donate to our efforts. I will be setting up a standing go fund me right quick, please contact me directly through any of our official emails.

How about we focus less on the pictures and more on the music? Who cares what they look like?

This is another great song, but I still like Strong better.  Just my opinion.
As a singer myself I have special appreciation for her voice. Among professional singers she is one in a thousand: wonderful range, great enunciation, breath control, projection, you name it. And most importantly she holds nothing back emotionally and that's why it hits my heart.

A song for a certain President.
at first glance i thought this said London grammas... that would have been cooler but this is good too.
Wow I thought this was Annie Lennox for sure. What a great voice.
Wow. Totally unexpected. Barely listening as I sit working at my desktop and then  bang! The world stops turning for a little while - absolutely gorgeous. Touch of Anohni about that voice.

OMG yes, that's the thing, she digs down deep then goes into the atmosphere

what is her vocal range?
At long last London Grammar has finally recorded a brand new album coming out in February titled California Soil.  https://www.londongrammar.com/

See the YouTubes
Awful wailing...........

I have to stop what I'm doing and just listen when this comes on.

 That's it.
Surprised Rooting For You has not hit the play list - maybe a bit downbeat/depressing ?  I love the live version which normally starts a capella.  Bet they wish they'd done that on the album now.
Love this band, the songs, the arrangements and that voice, hauntingly beautiful.
I wish them much success!
dunno, i think its a tad contrived
Hannahs voice is both captivating and angelic...her "range" is unbelieable
Almost sounds like a cross between Annie Lennox and Joan Armatrading...
This song alway stops me in my tracks - wow

To hold your heart, to hold your hand
Would be to me, the greatest thing
Haunting. Lovely range.
Pristine.
I first this song on RP and have downloaded it and shared it with everyone I know who would appreciate it.  Response has been "wow", as many of us have noted.  Such strong lyrics and her voice are a perfect match.  Reminds me of Beck's Sea of Change where I can only hear it a few times at any one time because its just too intense.
Music to remember the Trump era.
Everytime I hear this song my rating goes higher.....its so hauntingly beautiful.
One of a very few songs that actually give me a lump in my throat. And goosebumps. Just wonderful.
Wow. very nice.

More like 8.7 I sometimes wonder what the people are like who rate these songs.
Instant love on first hearing! Today 9 --> 10!
Leo Sayer's The Dancer would follow this perfectly!
LLRP
If anything deserves an eleven button this song does.  If no 11 then at least a 10+

She's definitely channeling Annie Lennox, in a really good way!
Heartwarming. Yes, sometimes less is more.
VERY pretty sound!
If only the voice was as listenable as the engineer seems to think it is.

I'll raise you a +1, as I recently heard this one while driving w/ the big system bumping and WOW the low-end on this tune was perfectly matched for my system, nearly rattled the grills off the speakers, so it has that going for it too....9 it is and LLRP!!
This song has NOTHING going for it except that voice. I can't give it more than an 8.
Beautiful voice, beautiful song, goosebumps all over .  .  . work has stopped until it's over.
Nice!
She is a beautiful thing
Her voice alone bumps this to an immediate 7 for me... may drift towards 8+ with a few more listens...
Had to buy their 2 records after hearing all their songs on RP.  RP strikes again!

What do you mean? This hasn't played in hours!.........
8 -> 7 and skip for too much airplay on rp
I commented on this 8 months ago... the amazing amount of positive comments since then makes it 9 --> 10 for me...
Never heard this before. She's amazing.
Its songs like this is why I LOVE RP....I would never hear this artist on commercial radio (at least out here in the woods of centra PA)
Such a sad song !
One of those songs that make me stop play RP...because I have to go over to(insert you fav online music shop) and listen to the rest of the album and eventually buy it.
great singer 🎼
Bumped from a 9 to a 10 gets the hairs on the back of my neck standing up.
Bill, has anybody told you lately that you are the best DJ EVER?

Stone Temple Pilots Vasoline straight into London Grammar Truth is a Beautiful Thing.

That's a beautiful thing.
I've just had to move this from 9 -> 10
This beyond beautiful.
Cuts through the mundane songs like a shaft of laser light. Now where are my rose tinted glasses.
Should be on daily prescription.
Bought the whole album after finding this here on RP. Thanks!!!
Loving the restraint of over production qualities. Appreciating the sparseness and beauty of meaningful atmosphere. Loving the truth...it's a beautiful thing indeed.
had to buy it, .mp3.

listen in my car where no one else can see me getting misty eyed
Totally beautiful whilst simultaneously so sad.
