Let's go

When two tribes go to war
A point is all you can score
When two tribes go to war
A point is all you can score

Cowboy No. 1
A born-again poor man's son
On the air America
I modelled shirts by Van Heusen-yeah

You know

When two tribes go to war
A point is all you can score
When two tribes go to war
A point is all you can score

Working on the black gas

Switch off your shield
Switch off and feel
I'm working on loving-yeah
Giving you back the good times
Ship it out-out
I'm working for the black gas

When two tribes go to war
A point is all you can score
When two tribes go to war
A point is all you can score

We got two tribes
We got the bomb
We got the bomb-yeah
Sock it to me biscuits-now

Are we living in a land
Where sex and horror are the new Gods?
Yeah

When two tribes go to war
A point is all you can score

When two tribes go to  war
One is only you can score

Anybody else hear that?
So true.
7>8
Remember when FGTH were #1 and 2 in UK charts
Love this one! Also loved "Welcome to the Pleasuredome" which I think is an underrated and under-appreciated track.
I like the extended mix of this song in which some BBC-like guy with a deep-toned voice "assures" listeners: "Mine is the last voice that you will ever hear—don't be alarmed."
On the LP you can here the statement of a BBC Radiomoderator, who pointed out the blasphemic site of the song, and he isn't willing of playing it. "Over and out"!
Very funny!
This is 40 years old and still sounds fresh and vibrant as it did when it was first released. At least for us Gen X'rs.
good times
lol. cool

How the hell did I ever dance to this back in the day?

I was 40 years younger then, so enthusiastically - these days only if there is a wall to hold onto, or some pain relief afterwards

Frenetically?
I always admire singers who hold nothing back, whose personality and verve leap right out of my cranking speakers...the music is JAM, too! What a rocking pulse!

Because it's astonishingly good; fantastic musicianship and freakishly brilliant production.

Do you actually listen to RP? Songs like this and others make it the eclectic gem that it is!
In our days is 3 tribes : 2 strong, 1...... will see soon. All the best everyone.
Great in the headphones or blasting on the PA.  In the office, not so much.  Still a 9.  FGTH
Straight in at Number One in the UK if I recall. Great video as well.
Are we living in a land

9
and we who lived, to just get old,
in the shadow of the mushroom cloud.
.
The danger never really went away, did it?
I keep thinking about the four minute warning,
we all learnt about as kids,
and now it's nigh on 40 years,
Not bad, considering....

Who is insane? Both Tribes.

sucko
right up there with Beautiful World by Devo.
8 outta the g8! Thanks, Bill, for reeling this one back in. You cast your line far back there.

Very poignant track considering Putin’s special military operation ,evil monster!

Interesting. It sounds a lot faster than I remember.

edit: I went and looked up a couple of videos and I guess it's not faster. Still seems more frenetic than it used to. Get me my walker.

Ha!
It’s a great all round album, power of love being the magnus opus
Very relevant today,  due to Putin!

Everyone always talks about "Relax" but I always preferred this one. Don't know why.

Because musically it's better, just less shock factor than Relax.
Brought me right back to Chico State in Spring 1986, dancing at the Graduate. Absolutely a work of art pop song.
Great track. Unfortunately still quite relevant.
Timely
Love the 12 inch mix. 80s excess.

Same here! Thank You RP!

Your walker is on order.  I also ordered you a chair elevator.
This is even better than I remember.
Here's an 80s footnote for ya
Trevor Horn made these chaps. Fab tune

The quirky part on side 4 is a guilty pleasure. The disembodied voice of Barry Grant off Brookside. "I'm sorry I left me card at home"
reminds me of  'simple minds'.
Another notch on Trevor Horn's pop bedpost.
Wow, haven’t heard this song since the 80’s
A-bi-o-scouse-80`s
RP does it again.  Just when I think I've heard all that can be possible, they pull something even MORE eclectic out of their hat!
Remember those tropical bird noises on the Bose 901's?
Skoda war!
Yes, exactly! It's one of those tunes that I'd rate high in review, but low for re-listen. I'm glad to be reminded of it today, but it would never end up on a personal playlist.
YYYEESSSSSS!!!!

Don't fight it - enjoy the best white water ride of 80s dance music!
Everyone always talks about "Relax" but I always preferred this one. Don't know why.
Personal opinion - never liked this song from day 1
Oddly, I appreciate listening to this today, more than when I was living through its hey-day in the 80s.   I'm  taking a moment to reflect on  how the BBC banned their debut hit, how they turn cold war lyrics into an iconic 80s dancehall hook...

Absolute pop genius.

Who's manufacturing the votes for Frankie?
I'm getting a vision of Trump & Biden in a modified video...
This takes me back to the 1980's, and my lovely Italian girlfriend.  Frankie says RELAX.  This is great stuff, thanks Bill!
Overrated and overplayed. Controversial doesn't necessarily confer merit on the song.  OK at the time, but in my opinion hasn't stood the test.
It still sounds incredible. Trevor Horn was genius on this production.

Some of the many remixes seemed to do just did that!

Ah-yup. America sure as shit no longer runs on Dunkin'. Fear & Hate seems the fuel mix of choice these days.
The style was called "High Energy Music".

I'll take the Datsun in the pic of them on Wikipedia

(as an aside: WTF? Datsun nor Wiki/Wikipedia show up as words in spell-check?)

Well... you weren't too far off and "Working for the black gas" ain't much clearer!
Bumped this up from a 6 to an 8. I will be singing this the rest of the day.

This one is way better than Relax.
For a very large number of years, I though the refrain ended with "Working for a black ass" and always wondered what the hell that was about. Thanks for posting the lyrics, RP! It solved one of the biggest unsolved mysteries in my life. :)
Yeeeeeeeeees!
This song resonated perfectly during the Cold War years. It was like a little bombshell, so succinct and angry, and sexy in its way. And you could dance to it. And with Pleasure Dome Frankie brought out gay culture in a way that not even Freddie of Queen ever did (did you know he was gay?). Hope no one's offended, but they sold a lot of records. Someone liked them, and it still sounds good.

I think you and I have very different definitions of “Bubblegum Pop”.
Absolutely the mutt's nuts!

Takes me back to my time on the record counter at our local Woolworth's and playing the album in its entirety (much to the disgust of the little old ladies in the shop), then going out with my workmates at the weekend to a local nightclub and going bonkersmadcrazy to this and 'Relax'. YEAHHHHHH!!!!

This is a evergreen with still a rate of *10
Always loved this song. But: "my" version on CD is more than 9 minutes long. Can you please try that one?
Nope Frankie. The new God is money.
I bloody love this!!!!!!!
Lively and pretentious bubble-gum pop. Of its time and should probably have stayed there.
Makes me want to go and find the vinyl 12" single I have of this and annoy the neighbours with the subwoofer.
Well, sadly this track is more topical today than I wish it were. US out of the treaty that reduced risk of two tribes going to war? Russia vs USA? This isn't the way I want my 80s flashbacks.

LOL. Well said!

Utterly exciting and fun rubbish!
Triggers my PTSD but in a good way because the song came out before some pretty disturbing times, for me ...helps blow off healthy steam.

Great production; full blast - no holding back - and now to the video: Smash!! What memories; what horrors (in a  Marlon Brando - Apocalypse Now kind of way)
Full Stop
MINE IS THE LAST VOICE YOU WILL EVER HEAR

DON'T BE ALARMED
 Yeeeeeeeah baby!
PSD time! {#Frustrated}
I love this! Seems to me more thematically relevant music from the 80s. Thank you!
It's ALL about the production. Trevor Horn was the sound of 80s music for me. I love this!

Surprisingly lo-fi ...
Ahead of the times lyrics. Everyone likes it in my realm.
Awful. And it goes on for waaaaay too long!
Given the current political situation between former "East" and "West" a most current song...{#Fight}
Utter rubbish!
Interesting. It sounds a lot faster than I remember.

edit: I went and looked up a couple of videos and I guess it's not faster. Still seems more frenetic than it used to. Get me my walker.

For me this song was the soundtrack for the violence and hatred that surrounded the British miners strike of 1984/5. Just hearing it takes me back to these ghastly and divisive times. Shudder!

Ha.  These boys certainly shook up the establishment in their day, particularly the hypocrites at the Beeb.  Banning Frankie whilst sanctioning institutional child abuse.  Quality.  10 from me this time.
Fantastic production and orchestration by Trevor Horne layered on to a catchy song and a beat that could go on for ever.

This pop claptrap, on RP, are you serious? {#Stop}
I think this guy needs to "relax".  Happy Valentine's Day to all!  {#Dance}
Ooooooolllldddd school

this CD sounded so awesome  back in the day
