On the floating shipless oceans
I did all my best to smile
'Til your singing eyes and fingers
Drew me loving to your isle

And you sang
"Sail to me
Sail to me, let me enfold you
Here I am
Here I am
Waiting to hold you"

Did I dream you dreamed about me?
Were you here when I was full sail?
Now my foolish boat is leaning
Broken love-lost on your rocks

For you sang
"Touch me not
Touch me not, come back tomorrow
Oh my heart
Oh my heart, shies from the sorrow"

Well I am puzzled as the newborn child
I am riddled as the tide
Should I stand amid the breakers?
Or should I lie with death my bride?

Hear me sing
"Swim to me
Swim to me, let me enfold you
Here I am, here I am
Waiting to hold you"

Was completely unaware that she had recorded this track.  A welcome addition to her legacy.  Her voice will be remembered for far longer than her troubles...

And again...thanks RP for the discovery!

Per Wikipedia, "The song's reference to the sirens tempting sailors at sea stems from Greek mythology."

This is a beautiful song, but I'm partial to This Mortal Coil's version.

Elizabeth Fraser...
10 on principal hearing this after her sad passing.   Teared up last night hearing her do the chorus with Jaw Wobble.  RIP

OK RP listeners.  I have long wondered what this song means, i.e. what's it all about.  Would someone please enlighten me?  TIA.

just had to give this a 10.
So poignant those words.

If only we'd all been able to hold her - a little more gently. A little more kindly.
An excellent artist but this cover was not what we were waiting for.
She gave us everything she could, for as long as she could.  I am very grateful for that.

I'm glad she got to attend the screening of Nothing Compares at Cannes in January 2022 (just before things went really bad for her) and was able to appreciate the crowd's applause -- a welcome contrast to the way much of the world treated her for so many years.
Bizarre that this is the first track I've seen on Radio Paradise that doesn't give the year.

For the record, it's 2010.
i love this version. really moving.

**edit - 2 wks later - even better this time.

Troubled and brilliant singer-songwriter. I hope you're home now and found the piece you sought. Farewell.
I've not heard this before.  It's lovely....
