Indeed. For me it plants a notion of surety in my heart that somehow no matter how long or brief, we are a gift to each other, and that all of life's connections to itself are precious. When I lost My Mother I was somehow comforted by her part in my understanding of that.
Just found out that our next door neighbor's son had a 5 hour operation for testicular cancer which had spread into his abdomen. He's only in his early 20s, the same age as a couple of my kids. Real nice kid too. Just got married and had a new baby. Very sad... I'm not religious but he is and I know he'd appreciate any prayers and positive thoughts.
Bear in mind that the long-term survival rates for these types of cancers is VERY high, even when they spread.

jagdriver wrote a huge review (thanks very much!):
I don't think I'm going to see George in heaven, knowing that the guy completely lost his way.
Wha????? That is hard for me to believe! Now I'm curious to see it. I'm glad Raspy liked it.
I believe what the Bible has to say about entry into heaven; chanting in the name of the Lord (whom George did not know) is not sufficient.
My favorite Beatle was also George—overall. I loved the songwriting abilities of John, though.
We caught 1964 - The Tribute several years ago in Phoenix. They put on a great show. They don't do all of the costume changes like other Beatles tribute bands, focusing instead on the music the Beatles played when on tour. The guy who played George (who has since been replaced) was absolutely spot on and was the coolest to watch and listen to (Jimmy somebody out of Ohio, as I recall).
Some of the Fabs' early videos, like a TV show they did in Sweden called Ready, Steady, Go, are wonderful and George really stands out in these. As I rewatch the Ed Sullivan shows, George seemed like he was intimidated by being on live TV in NYC and couldn't wait to be done.
