So this weekend kaupmees and betterdaze came over from the other side of the mountain and kaup went down to the local place to get some beer and came home with Jubelale, which I've been saying is great stuff... but he was unaware of that, just grabbed something that looked good. I told him I'm surprised it wasn't on sale because a couple of years ago I got some in April (it's a "Christmas" beer) for the same price as Coors. So kaup says they did have some other beer with santa on the label and it was on sale... Brown Sugar something, he wasn't sure. I immediately hopped in the car and went and bought out their entire remaining stock of Normally $10/6pack, it was $7 (For reference, Coors is $6.30). Note the "World Class" Rating from BA... It's great stuff (and before you get all wiggly, it isn't some spiced foofoo beer, it's just good and strong. So... hit up your liquor stores for going-out-of-stock Holiday beers.

Oh, and I've been told that if one gets stopped by the rozzers whilst driving one should remain seated, and only roll down one's window once a chap is sure that the other chap is indeed an officer of the law; and to keep one's hands hidden at all times in case a chap causes alarm by casually flapping one's hands around. Is this the case? I'd hate to cause a kerfuffle
Well, the flashing lights and siren generally give us away, and us rozzers do have a thing about kerfuffling. You can talk with your hands though, long as they're empty of weapons. If you think a kerfuffle will set us off try waving a gun around. That slides kerfuffling waaaaay down the list. Just check in with me when you get here, I'll hook you up with a checklist. And I think he was talking about law enforcement agents. I could be wrong though. But there are still ten beers in the fridge.

"In the spirit of collaboration, we teamed up with San Diego's Quality Ale and Fermentation Fraternity, or QUAFF for short, to brew Spiced IPA, a beer that offers an intriguing twist on the West Coast's favorite style. Blending familiar flavors with unexpected ingredients, this hop-forward yet balanced IPA is brewed with malty assam black tea, ginger, cinnamon, clove, star anise, black pepper, and cardamom. The beer and the spices come together, much like the brewers behind it, to create on amazing brew."
Holy crap, I was a founding member of QUAFF back in my dog could it be what, 25 years ago? I have to try this. And I love spiced beers, and this sounds interesting.

Private equity, consolidating global beer brands...
Todayâs Transactions:
StarBev Sold to CVC-backed Molson Coors for $3.5B
Molson expands with StarBev, distributor of more than 20 brands of beer in Eastern Europe including the labels Bergenbier, Borsodi and Jelen
April 3, 2012
Private equity group CVC Capital Partners Ltd. has acquired StarBev LP for â¬2.65 billion ($3.54 billion), expanding its presence in the beverage sector by folding it into current portfolio company Molson Coors Brewing Co.
Denver-based Molson sees the deal as a way to grow within emerging markets.
Headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands and Prague, Czech Republic, StarBev operates nine breweries in Central and Eastern Europe. The target generated sales of about $1 billion in 2011 and roughly $322 million in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda).
StarBev distributes more than 20 brands of beer including local labels Bergenbier, Borsodi, Jelen, Kamenitza, Niksicko and Ozusko, in addition to licensing national brands Stella Artois, Beckâs, and Hoegaarden.
Nomura Holdings Inc. advised CVC on the acquisition, while law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP provided legal advice.

Slurred speech: IntroductionSlurred speech is a particular speech symptom that is commonly associated with drunkenness, though there are many other causes. Slurred speech is not the same as poorly articulated speech or overly rapid speech, and other types of speech symptoms should also be examined as possible diagnoses of a slurred-like speech symptom. Some of the possible causes of slurred speech include alcohol, drug intoxication, hypoglycemic attacks, various serious brain conditions (e.g. stroke or TIA), and also possible are variousspeech disorders including physical disorders of the face or oral region that interfere with speech. It is incorrect to assume a person with slurred speech is "just drunk". Slurred speech needs immediate professional medical advice because of the possibility of life-threatening causes. |
